He Watched Me Shine Without Him novel Chapter 54

Vivian finally gave up.

Ethan collapsed on the bed with his clothes still on. Vivian helped him take off his shirt, shoes, and socks. He quickly fell asleep.

She stared at him, emotions boiling inside her.

Even though I understood how busy he was during this critical stage of his career, I'm pregnant too. Why can’t Ethan be a little more considerate?

At the Marshall family’s residence, in the middle of the night, Rose’s phone buzzed continuously.

Houston, a light sleeper, picked it up.

He glanced at Rose, who was still sound asleep, hesitated for a moment, then unlocked the phone.

Messages from Ethan kept coming in.

"Rose, I don't believe you really love that real estate consultant.

He's not even close to your standards. If I was the one who shattered your faith in love by abandoning you, then I'm deeply sorry. But I hope you can remain calm and composed. Please take your marriage seriously. Don’t rush into marrying someone you don’t love, it's just going to end in divorce."

Reading Ethan's attempts to drive a wedge between him and Rose, Houston nearly exploded with rage.

A mischievous, taunting smile appeared in his eyes. He turned on the phone speaker and brought it close to Rose’s lips, then suddenly kissed her.

Rose let out a muffled moan, her breathing caught.

On the other end of the line, Ethan’s face turned pale.

He shot upright in bed, clutching his phone tightly as sweat formed in his palm.

A moment later, his phone dinged with a new message. He opened it and saw:

"Ethan Walker, text my wife again and I won't hesitate to destroy your entire family."

His lips curled into a mocking sneer.

A mere real estate consultant? How can he possibly destroy me?

His reply came fast and cold: "Bring it on."

Then, annoyed, he went back to sleep.

The next morning, when Rose and Houston stepped out of the bedroom, they found Sam glaring furiously at Houston.

"You two shared a bed last night?" he questioned, eyes burning into Houston.

Houston nodded.

Sam raised his fist in anger. "Houston, you... you took advantage of her! You tricked my daughter into having something serious with you. What a scumbag!"

After all, Sam wasn’t wrong. If I hadn’t taken advantage of the situation, I might never have won Rose’s heart.

Chapter 54 The Truth Comes to Light 1

A storm surged in Sam’s eyes. He did the math—that was the third day after she had returned from proposing to Ethan in his city.

So, she’d married Houston right after breaking up with Ethan? Even a fool could guess what had happened.

She’d been heartbroken and disillusioned after her failed proposal—and impulsively married Houston.

My daughter had married a man she barely knew after just a few days?
