Liza was alone in the pitch-black wine cellar. Gunshots echoed from upstairs.
She desperately wanted to see what was happening, but the door had been locked.
Finally, the noise stopped. But the silence was even more unsettling.
Suddenly, the iron door creaked open. Liza hid in a corner, fearing the worst.
Then she heard Lara's voice. "Miss Eaton, it's me."
Liza peeked out from her hiding spot. Her voice shook as she asked, "What's going on out there?"
Lara rushed in and helped her up. "Fermin... He killed everyone in the house."
Liza was stunned by the news.
"But don't worry, his men didn't find this place," Lara reassured her, holding her hand tightly. "But you can't stay here anymore. Fermin is worried about you. If he doesn't find you, he might kill more people. If you go back to him and say you got lost, he won't blame you."
Liza was still reeling from the shock. Fermin had always been kind to her, never showing his ruthless side. But those gunshots...
"Are you okay?" she asked, noticing blood on Lara.
"But what about Debra?"
"I'll talk to her. Now come with me."
Lara led her out of the cellar.
As they entered the main hall, the smell of blood was overpowering. Liza almost vomited. Lara covered her nose and mouth.
The room was a gruesome scene, with blood everywhere and the attentive servants now lifeless.
