Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1249

Debra asked, "What happened?"

Randy's expression was grim. "There was a shooting. It sounds serious. Drake is in the hospital."

Debra quickly looked at Marion, whose brows were knitted together.

"Let's go find out," she said urgently.

Randy hurried to catch up. "Wait for me."

Garland came out of his room, wondering what was going on.

"Drake? That arrogant, overbearing man?" he muttered. "He got hurt? Could this be the bloodshed mentioned by Juan?"

A chill ran down his spine. If someone like Drake could get shot, the rest of them would stand no chance.

...

At the hospital, two operating rooms were in use.

Debra and Marion arrived to see the red lights glowing.

A nurse approached them. "Both patients are in surgery right now. You'll have to wait outside."

"How serious is it?" Debra asked.

"Very serious," the nurse replied grimly.

Moments later, one of Drake's men approached, looking shaken.

"We didn't see this coming. We were keeping watch downstairs when we suddenly heard a gunshot. By the time we got up there, Kale was already down. Then Mr. Lowe went down too. The shooter fired through the window, hanging from a cable."

"Yes," Debra agreed. "Whoever's behind this won't allow anyone outside of the Nichols family to lead the company. When Juan and Theda were in charge, they didn't react. Their goal is to control the Nichols Group. Only Juan and Theda are manageable to them. Could they be a part of the Nichols family?"

"I've never seen anyone like that in the Nichols family," Marion replied. "Not in the past, and I doubt I will in the future."

Just then, the lights of the operating rooms turned green.

A doctor walked out, and Debra and Marion quickly went over.

"How are the patients?"

"There are two. Which one are you asking about?"

"Both."

"Kale is fine, but the other one is not so good. He'll need to stay in the hospital for a while."
