Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1248

Juan paused. "Help me keep an eye on Ivan."

"Sure," Garland agreed.

"Debra is smart, but she trusts the people around her too easily. She's not ruthless enough. Sooner or later, she's going to get hurt by this," Juan sighed.

"Not ruthless enough? Where did you get that from?" Garland asked, puzzled.

He had spent quite a bit of time with Debra. Marion was supposed to be the decisive one, but from what he saw, Debra called the shot.

Marion was tough on others, while Debra was tough on herself. It only meant she could be even tougher on others.

Juan was silent for a moment. "With Marion by her side, I'm not worried. But things in Seamar City are chaotic. Your father was right to keep you at home. It's not too late now. You can still go back."

"Uh... How chaotic are we talking about?"

"Bloodshed."

...

The next day, at the Royal Grand Hotel, Drake adjusted his suit.

"How do I look?" he asked.

Kale nodded. "You look great."

"Good," Drake said. "Make sure to bring more people. Today's my succession ceremony, and I don't want it to feel too empty."

Just then, a noise came from outside the door.

"Watch out!" Kale cried out.

Suddenly, the glass behind him shattered. He felt a sharp pain in his back. He turned around and saw a shadow outside the window.

The shooter was wearing a white mask. One of his hands was holding a gun, the other seemingly hanging from a wire. He quickly slid down and escaped from the scene.

"Boss!" Kale cried out.

Drake looked down at his chest which had been penetrated by a bullet and coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Kale struggled to get up and shouted at the panicking crowd. "Call a doctor!"

...

Debra and Marion came out of their room, ready to attend the succession ceremony.

Randy rushed up and shouted urgently, "Bad news! Something happened to Drake."
