From Outcast to Overlord: The Unyielding Heir
Chapter 256 You Talk Too Much
Leander’s voice didn’t shake. His eyes didn’t flinch. He didn’t look like a man facing three giants. He looked like someone brushing off a crowd of nobodies.
A few guests turned away. Some sighed. Others just shook their heads.
All three of the legendary heirs were here. They had shown up in force. And Leander? He hadn’t flinched once.
Most people would’ve begged. Most would’ve backed down. But Leander didn’t. He stood there, calm and unmoved, like none of them mattered. This wasn’t confidence anymore. It felt like madness.
Adrian let out a dry chuckle, his voice dipped in scorn. “You’re a funny guy, kid. But being bold doesn’t mean a d*mn thing. You said what you said, and now you’re gonna pay for it. What do you think’s coming for you after this?”
He slid one hand into his pocket, eyes narrowed and cold.
His smile curled like he was already looking at a dead man. In his mind, Leander was already done for.
When he glanced at Maeve and saw her sitting there, calm and still, not even blinking, his grin widened. She didn’t speak. She didn’t move. That was enough for Adrian to assume she’d lost
faith in Leander too.
Across the room, Skyler leaned back in his chair and gave a slow shake of his head.
“Leander… I really thought I’d have to get my hands dirty dealing with you. But now? You’re not even worth it.”
He watched the way Josiah and the others moved in.
Then, like something just clicked, he stood up and walked over. He stepped beside Josiah and patted him on the shoulder.
“Hey Josiah, think you can let this slide? Just this once. For me.”
He didn’t care about Leander. He just wanted to show off for Yvette. Leander had stirred up trouble, and Skyler saw an easy chance to act like the savior. He wanted to prove he had the power and pull of a real Wyvern Blade member. All he needed was Yvette watching.
As soon as he spoke, Elric and Adrian turned and gave him sharp looks. They were waiting to see what kind of fool dared to speak up for Leander.
Josiah stepped in fast, not wanting things to spiral. “Guys, let me introduce someone. This is
Skyler. We served the military together. He just got into Wyvern Blade.”
A murmur rippled through the crowd. Even Adrian and Elric stiffened slightly.
“Wait… Wyvern Blade?”
Just hearing that name pulled the tension tight. That kind of status didn’t come easy. It didn’t matter who your father was–people respected that title. Even their fathers would’ve stepped carefully around someone like Skyler.
The arrogance faded. Adrian’s tone shifted instantly.
“Skyler, man,” he said with a stiff smile.
“What are you trying to say here?”
Skyler stood tall, his posture crisp, his expression smooth. He made the Three Princes look like they were standing in his shadow.
He nodded to them, then spoke in an even voice. “Look, I know Leander messed up. So, I’m stepping up and apologizing for him.
“He’s not exactly my buddy, but I brought him here tonight. So, if you could let this one go, I’d owe you.”
His voice stayed calm and polite. Not begging, but not pushing either.
Eleanor and a few others nodded quietly. Skyler looked gracious, stepping in when he didn’t have to. It made him seem mature.
Everyone could tell Skyler and Leander weren’t close, but here he was, putting himself on the line. It made him look good.
Leander still hadn’t moved. He just sat there, steady as a stone. Calm, still, silent. He looked more like a statue than a man.
Eleanor frowned. She leaned toward Yvette and whispered, “How can you possibly like someone like him?”
