She ran her fingers over the ring, letting out a soft, almost inaudible sigh.
Ethan Carter pulled his hand back, absentmindedly rubbing his thumb and forefinger together. His voice was low and calm. “If you love it, it’s worth every penny.”
Huh?
Olivia Bennett had only meant to comment, but his words made her cheeks flush with unexpected heat.
But seeing Ethan’s steady, composed expression, her fluttering heart gradually settled down.
Jeez, for a second, she almost thought Ethan Carter was flirting with her.
Guys like him, born with a silver spoon and family money, probably just genuinely believed that 2.5 million dollars wasn’t a big deal.
“Two and a half million, Ethan. I don’t care how much I love it—it’s still crazy expensive.” She tried to sound as firm as possible.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing. If it’s perfect, no price is too high.”
He barely finished before Olivia could overthink, pulling her closer and striding away with purpose.
“Let’s go home.”
A flicker of emotion flashed in Olivia’s eyes—gone before anyone could notice.
Sure, the ring was ridiculously expensive, but what mattered more to her was everything Ethan had done for her.
She couldn’t shake the worry that she’d never be able to give him something equally meaningful in return.
Lost in thoughts about the ring, Olivia didn’t even realize how natural it felt to have Ethan’s arm around her.
As the two of them walked off, they didn’t notice Lavinia Bennett and Daniel Gill approaching from the other direction.
Lavinia was all smiles, her hand looped through Daniel’s arm, leaning in playfully. “You finally have some free time! Remember, after we pick out the rings, you promised to come shopping for clothes with me.”
“Hmm?”
When Daniel didn’t answer, Lavinia glanced up at him in confusion.
