Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 98

Mrs. Wendy watched Lindsey fidget around all day. Lindsey smiled and frowned at times and at that moment when Mrs. Wendy brought out a plate of sliced peaches to Lindsey, she saw that Lindsey’s face was pale as she stared at the TV unmovingly.

"Oh, dear! Isn't that the Young Master? Why is he covered in blood? What happened?" Mrs. Wendy exclaimed after seeing the news.

Mrs. Wendy almost fell from shock but Lindsey was quick and held her up. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine." Mrs. Wendy stood steadily and looked back to the TV.

The clip on the TV played repeatedly and they both saw it clearly.

The screen showed Zayn walking on the street when a man suddenly came around the corner with a knife in his hand, aiming at Zayn.

At this critical moment, a woman suddenly rushed out from behind and blocked Zayn from getting stabbed.

The blood on Zayn's body probably belonged to that woman.

The perpetrator was captured on the spot.

Zayn held the woman in his arms. His eyes were full of dismay and worry.

Seeing that Zayn was fine, Mrs. Wendy was relieved, but she still felt uneasy.

She squeezed Lindsey's arm and asked, "What's going on? How could someone want to kill Zayn? This girl looks quite familiar. She’s so pretty. I hope she’s okay. Otherwise, Zayn will feel guilty for the rest of his life."

After saying that, Mrs. Wendy realized that Lindsey had not moved for a long time, so she gently shook her. "Lindsey...Lindsey?"

When she saw that Lindsey had returned to her senses, Mrs. Wendy added, "Are you shocked? Zayn’s fine. Don't worry."

Lindsey forced a smile and said, "Yeah, I know. Zayn’s fine."

Mrs. Wendy patted the back of Lindsey's hand and said, "I saw that you've been absent-minded all day. Is there something wrong?"

"No, nothing’s wrong." Lindsey immediately denied it.

How was she going to say that she was imagining their lives as an ordinary married couple when her husband was hugging another woman?

That woman was willing to die for him. If she was him, she would have no reason to let her down in any way.

Lindsey changed the channel. This channel was doing a follow-up to that news earlier. This scene looked like it was in the hospital. Zayn was still wearing the bloodied clothes as he leaned his head against the wall outside the operating room.

After a while, Lindsey saw that Quentin also appeared in view.

From a distance, the signage, "In Surgery", tormented not only those at the hospital but also Lindsey.

After pondering for a long time, Lindsey still decided to make a phone call to ask about the situation.

Even if it was not Jenny Lenig and another person had taken a knife for Zayn, she should still ask about the situation.

Anyhow, she was still Zayn’s wife.

However, Lindsey saw Zayn's annoyed face as he looked at his phone and hung up without hesitation.

The corners of Lindsey's mouth lifted into a bitter smile. It turned out that she had been overthinking this whole time. She was nothing to him.

In the future, this would be their lives.

Lindsey turned off the TV and curled up under the covers in bed.

The image of Zayn holding Jenny in his arms kept replaying in her mind, especially the look in his eyes when he saw Jenny taking a knife for him. There was shock, compassion, and more so, agony.

Lindsey suddenly felt that there was no point in her being jittery all day.
