Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 73

Stephanie Lindt was still scared of Zayn’s temper even if he was younger than her.

"It's nothing." Stephanie touched her hair to hide her guilt and continued, "It's like this. When you both got married back then, we made a deal with Lindsey. Every month, Lindsey has to give me and your uncle $500,000 as allowance. It has been several months and this girl can be quite forgetful. She hasn’t given us a penny! Our company is also...unable to operate, so we really have no choice and can only come to you."

Stephanie was calm as she said this and almost cracked when she mentioned the Juhls’ bankruptcy, but she quickly regained her composure.

"What nonsense is this?" Lindsey was infuriated. She had never seen such a shameless person. "When did I make such a deal with you guys?"

"Is there more?" Zayn asked in a light-hearted manner as if Stephanie was just commenting about the weather.

Stephanie thought that Zayn was willing to negotiate and did not care to hold back. She said, "Yes, this Lindsey is so kind. Your uncle and I told her that she didn’t need to help, but she still insisted on giving us $20 million. She said it’s to help your uncle rebuild his company."

"That's enough! When have I ever said anything like that?" Lindsey was amazed at how brazen she was.

"Is that so?" It was as if Zayn did not see Lindsey’s frustrations and turned to look at her. He asked, "Why didn’t I know that you have $20 million?"

At that moment, Lindsey forgot that they were still at odds with each other and hurriedly explained, "They're talking nonsense."

As soon as Lindsey said that, Stephanie’s sharp voice sounded, “You did! Lindsey, you promised us! You said that once you marry into the Guggenheim family, what’s theirs is yours, so you won’t stinge on us. Did you forget all this?”

Lindsey watched as the teasing smile on the man's face gradually receded. Zayn’s lips formed a straight line and his face looked cold.

"I didn't say that!" Lindsey could not bear it any longer. Unfortunately, in someone’s eyes, this was her admission of guilt.

Henry, who was sitting next to Stephanie, also changed his expression. He reached out to tug on Stephanie and whispered, "This is not what we discussed before coming here."

Stephanie ignored Henry and said with a smile, "Zayn, you see what Lindsey said? It’s our fault that we didn’t teach her well. This girl suffered too much as a child and became greedy. If your uncle and I weren’t really desperate, we wouldn’t have come to you for money."

What she meant was that Lindsey only married Zayn for his money and that she was coveting the Guggenheims’ huge family fortune.

Lindsey looked at Stephanie and moved her lips, but she could not say a word. She thought that Stephanie was here to ask for money, but now she could clearly see that Stephanie wanted to completely ruin her marriage with Zayn.

"Is there anything you want to explain?" Zayn said indifferently, but each word sounded as if he had already convicted Lindsey of her crime.

"Will you even believe me?" Lindsey's flustered mood suddenly settled down, like a wrongly sentenced criminal who finally gave up to fate at the time of execution. She became frank.

Zayn could not read the emotions in her eyes and he did not want to. His anger made him lose his mind.

He hooked the corner of his lips to a cold smile and said ruthlessly, “I don’t believe you.”

Lindsey laughed and said, "Then there's nothing to explain."

Stephanie was still chattering away when Zayn suddenly got up and kicked the table.

"Shut up!"

Stephanie stopped talking in an instant.

Lindsey looked at the glass of milk that had spilled on her body. Her shirt was stained and the glass fell to the ground, shattering to pieces.

Zayn did not even look at her.

"You want money?" He was speaking to Henry and Stephanie. "$20 million? It’s too little. Don't you want more?"
