Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 718

After a few short interactions, Lindsey formed a weird reflex to the name “Mr. Cooper”. She hung her coat on the hanger, then turned with a deep crease between her eyebrows as she asked, "Did he say what about?"

Emilia shook her head carefully. "No."

She only knew that they did have a client named Mr. Cooper, but he did not tell her what wanted specifically even after she asked him.

"Alright." Lindsey’s voice was emotionless. After hanging her coat, she turned around and her long dress swayed with her movement. "Take him to the meeting room first. I’ll come over in a moment."

After Emilia left, Lindsey waited in the office for a few minutes before going to the meeting room.

"Mr. Cooper." Lindsey walked in through the opened door of the meeting room and smiled before she spoke and extended her hand in a polite and official manner. "Why did you come by our office all of a sudden?"

Mr. Cooper probably had no other clothes, or perhaps he hoarded countless pieces of the same outfit. Lindsey could not see the difference in all the times that she met him. Even in the warm indoors, he still wrapped himself so tightly like he was in Antarctica.

He immediately stood up when he saw Lindsey walking in. His slender hand gently touched Lindsey’s and they quickly let go of each other.

"There’s a small problem." He lowered his voice so that it would sound much better than his normal volume which made a qualitative difference to those listening.

Lindsey noticed this little change in Mr. Cooper and thought to herself, ‘So, he even knows how to make his voice sound better?’

This thought was only for a moment and none of it showed.

After exchanging greetings, Lindsey sat down opposite Mr. Cooper.

The two of them were separated by a small rosewood coffee table. Lindsey was sitting in the position that Zayn used to like to sit in, which was also her favorite position, but the temperature in the room seemed to drop a few degrees for no reason.

Lindsey could not see Mr. Cooper’s eyes that were hidden behind those sunglasses. She subconsciously folded her arms and felt that the room’s temperature seemed a bit low.

The man in front of her did not say what the problem was, so Lindsey had to ask him, "What problem is it, Mr. Cooper?"

"A minor one." Mr. Cooper averted his gaze, which fell on Lindsey's bare ankle beneath her long dress. "But it involves your company."

Curiosity swept across Lindsey's face and she made a gesture for him to continue.

The sunglasses he was wearing prevented him from seeing the finer details of Lindsey's face. He could only see that her carefully drawn lips were pursed.

‘She changed a bit,’ Mr. Cooper thought to himself.

Lindsey did not use to like wearing makeup. She was often plain-faced and looked younger. She also did not seem to have to work as hard as she did now.

A vague pain came from his chest, which caused his fingers on his knee to clench gently. There was an imperceptible heartache in his voice as he asked, "Ms. Juhl, aren’t you cold?"

"Oh, I wasn’t earlier, but now it seems to be a little chilly. Do you feel cold?" Lindsey thought that Mr. Cooper felt cold and subconsciously replied.

However, the man opposite her shook his head slowly. "No, I’m very hot."

Before Lindsey looked at him dubiously, Mr. Cooper added, “In such cold weather, it’ll be cold if you wear a dress. You should wear more.”

He said the last sentence with unusual difficulty. No one noticed the heartache and reproach hidden in his voice. Lindsey looked down at her half-exposed calves and her mind went blank for a few seconds.

They had a big buffer for the manufacturing time, so a week earlier was completely within Denarius' abilities.

"Ms. Juhl, you can tell me if you have any concerns." Lindsey pondered for a moment, lowered her head, and pursed her lips, "There’s no concern."

She looked like she had suddenly figured out something and raised her head again. "Mr. Cooper, you can talk to the head of our Finance Department regarding the specifics."

Lindsey wanted to ask Mr. Cooper if he came so early just to ask this. After some thought, she swallowed those words. Perhaps this matter was very important to Mr. Cooper.

"Ms. Juhl, have you had breakfast yet?" The man across the table suddenly asked.

Lindsey lifted her head. "Umm...not yet."

She did not know what Mr. Cooper meant, so her eyebrows were still raised slightly and no one spoke for a while.

After a few seconds, Mr. Cooper suddenly coughed lightly. "There’s a nice cafe nearby. May I invite Ms. Juhl to breakfast?"

She should have refused, but Lindsey stopped herself. ‘Eating together?’

Did this mean that she could finally see Mr. Cooper’s face? At the thought of this possibility, Lindsey's heartbeat gradually increased in frequency.
