Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 706

The hotel staff at the door was holding a box with a big logo and handed it to Lindsey as he bowed slightly. "Ms. Juhl, this is a gift for you from a gentleman."

Lindsey's hand that was on the door slid down and her gaze landed on the box with confusion. "What gentleman?"

"Sorry, the gentleman didn’t leave a name, only that he was your friend." The waiter replied good-naturedly.

Lindsey did not move. She did not know many people in Salem City, let alone a friend who gave her such an expensive gift. Why would they give her something anonymously?

There was no such thing as a free lunch!

When Lindsey did not take it, the staff thought that she was worried and patiently added, "We've already had the box tested and there's nothing harmful inside."

Lindsey smiled helplessly. "To be honest, I'm not worried about any danger. I just thought that I don't seem to have any friends who would send me gifts."

As she said that, Lindsey looked up at the waiter who was half a head taller than her. "So...I probably can't accept this gift. You guys can find a way to contact the person who sent it and return it for me."

The staff looked like he was in a pickle and said, "Ms. Juhl, the gentleman didn’t leave any contact information, so we have no way to return it for you. Why don’t you take it first? Then perhaps your friend will take the initiative to contact you later?"

Lindsey looked at the black logo on the white bag and pursed her somewhat dry lips. Since the staff clearly looked to be in a dilemma, Lindsey finally took it.

"Thanks then."

After closing the door, Emilia, who was sitting on the sofa, immediately turned her to look at Lindsey. Lindsey raised the box in her hand and showed it to her as she shrugged her shoulders. "A gift from a warm-hearted citizen."

Lindsey let out a long sigh. When she saw the box, she already knew that it was expensive. She then put it to the side and did not care about it. Emilia was puzzled and said, "Ms. Juhl, don’t you want to open it to see what’s inside?"

It looked like a pair of shoes.

Lindsey shook her head. Although she took the gift, she did not intend to care about it. After staying for a while, Emilia retreated. Lindsey thought of what Emilia said earlier and thought that she should observe for herself.

Although she thought so, Lindsey was so busy in the next two days that she threw this matter into the back of her mind. She held a few meetings with the construction staff and made two trips to the site before drowning herself in paperwork again.

She did not see Mr. Cooper for the next two days and only met him once at the airport on the day of departure.

At that time, Lindsey was still wearing her black ankle boots. She was followed by several Denarius employees and in front of her were Alfred and Mr. Cooper.

After two days of not seeing the man who wrapped himself up so tightly, Lindsey's first reaction was bafflement that Mr. Cooper actually came to see them off.

What happened next was the boring but obligatory greeting session that she had long been accustomed to. When it came to Mr. Cooper, Lindsey just shook hands with him briefly without saying anything.

Mr. Cooper looked down and before Lindsey left, she felt that he had been staring at her shoes.

She could not resist looking down as well and did not feel like there was anything wrong with her outfit or shoes.

Just then, there was an announcement for them to board their flight over the speakers. Lindsey did not think much about it and hurried to the security checkpoint with her coat draped over her arm.

Dezi, who was in her arms, nodded and rubbed his head on her chest before he let go of her.

While Lindsey changed her shoes, Dezi had already placed Lindsey's suitcase to the side and made a gesture to help her take her coat.

"I’ll do it." Lindsey had already changed her shoes.

Mrs. Wendy came over wearing a pair of reading glasses. When she saw Lindsey’s pinkish nose, she hastily pulled her to take a seat. "Wait here...I’ll reheat your dinner."

She was wearing home slippers and did not even take off her reading glasses before she hurried to the kitchen with a slightly hunched-over back.

Lindsey did not stop Mrs. Wendy and swept a glance at the small notebook on the coffee table. She took it and asked Dezi, who was clinging to her. “What’s this?”

The page where the book was opened had some words written on it. It was not the best handwriting and even had a kind of childlike clumsiness, but it was not Dezi’s handwriting.

Dezi leaned into Lindsey's ear and whispered secretively, "This is Grandma's recipe book. She doesn’t know which dish she wants to make for the competition."

Lindsey heard Dezi’s words and could already picture Mrs. Wendy in her reading glasses writing word by word with Dezi’s pencil in a small notebook, so she unconsciously laughed out loud.

After Dezi said that, he made a serious face and stressed, "Grandma’s very serious about it."

Then he giggled and revealed a missing front tooth. He looked so adorable.
