Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 699

"Em!" Lindsey had just returned from the Planning Department and saw Emilia who was at her desk preparing the materials she needed for the meeting in the afternoon. Lindsey lightly tapped her fingers on Emilia’s desk and said, "Come to Salem City with me on Thursday."

The secretary froze for a moment probably because she did not expect Lindsey to take her on a business trip. She blinked her long and thin eyelashes for a moment before she returned to her senses and immediately nodded. "Yes, Ms. Juhl."

During this half a year, Lindsey never hired a new assistant for herself. Although Quentin was her personal assistant, it was only in name and his position in the company was just below Lindsey’s. Emilia was then treated like Lindsey’s part-time assistant.

In this kind of situation where there was no suitable candidate, but Lindsey still had to bring someone around, Emilia would be her choice.

When Lindsey entered her office, Emilia began to do her own task. Emilia’s personality was warm and sometimes extra lively. Usually, she would not gossip with others. She had been in Denarius for almost two years and remained as the secretary station at the President's Office. She would also complete her tasks with great dedication and was surprisingly very efficient.

Suddenly, there was a large shadow overhead, which made Emilia lift her head slightly puzzled, just in time to meet Quentin’s lowered gaze. She hurriedly stood up straight. The top button of her white shirt was not buttoned and revealed her slender collarbone which moved gently with her breathing. She even held her breath for a moment. "Quentin!"

Emilia pursed her lips and still addressed Quentin the same as she did before, unlike many others in the company who had privately begun to call him President Quentin. Quentin stopped them a few times, but it was not very effective.

Looking at the girl who was obviously a little nervous and uneasy in front of him, Quentin was a little upset, but he did not show it. “You’re going on a business trip with Ms. Juhl?”

"Huh?" Emilia was still stunned, but under Quentin's sharp gaze, she quickly came back to her senses and nodded. "Ah, yes. We’re going to Salem City this Thursday."

Quentin already knew about it, but he somehow asked again with a motive. He indeed saw the girl’s rabbit-like expression.

A hint of delight flashed across Quentin’s eyes. Quentin reached out his arm that had an exquisite watch and tapped on her desk. “Where do you buy the bread that you got me every morning?”

This time, Emilia was truly shocked. Quentin had not asked her such a grounded question in a long time. During this period, Emilia would just put down the bread and coffee and leave, but Quentin never said anything. Why did he suddenly ask where the bakery was?

However, Emilia was inexplicably a little afraid of this serious-looking Quentin, so she quickly answered, "The bakery below my apartment...my mother bought it."

Her mother was still wondering why Emilia brought bread from home every morning even after having breakfast at home.

Quentin nodded. "Good." After saying that, Quentin turned and went back to his office in his sleek black suit.

Emilia was left looking puzzled as she could not figure out what Quentin meant by that.

‘Good? What’s good? The bread, or something else?’

Due to this little episode, Emilia kept stealing glances at Quentin's office from time to time the whole afternoon.

However, besides getting Emilia to send over some documents and the occasional coffee, Quentin did not talk to Emilia again.

Lindsey hardly ever went on business trips. This time, it was last-minute, but the good thing was that it would be a short trip and she would probably be back by the weekend if things went well.

Chapter 699 What’s Good? 1

When he saw Lindsey, who was wearing a black coat and a fitting dress, he froze for a moment before welcoming her with a smile on his face. “Oh! Mr. Quentin said that he couldn’t come over, but I didn't expect Ms. Juhl to come personally! Sorry to trouble you.”

Alfred Jenner was the heir of Tencello Corporation. Although he was the heir, he was not exactly young and was past his prime, but he was still waiting for his old man to transfer the power to him. To pave the way for himself, he even dared to make a move against Denarius.

Lindsey did not like this pot-bellied man that looked like he was 53 years old instead of his real age that was ten years younger. However, she still managed to squeeze out a polite smile. “Mr. Jenner.”

Alfred did not feel embarrassed when Lindsey did not accept his handshake and withdrew his hands as he rubbed them together. He also dared not show his temper. "I’ve made all the arrangements. Let’s get you to the hotel first, then we’ll talk about the project later."

Since the itinerary was fixed, Lindsey did not refuse his arrangements. At least now, they were in a cooperative relationship, so she should not be too rude.

On the way from the airport to the hotel, Alfred briefed them about the situation. In the end, he slapped his thighs and said, "Ms. Juhl, we really didn't expect those people to be so greedy! Seeing that our project is about to start, no one wants this to happen..."

Alfred still wanted to shirk the responsibility. "That’s because of those people. We have all the manpower, materials, and finances ready. As long as those people can be persuaded, it's not a problem."

"You’re right." Lindsey tapped her fingers on her knee. "But don’t you think Tencello should take full responsibility for this?"
