"I think this investment is feasible." Quentin insisted on his opinion.
Lindsey stood up from behind her desk and sullenly sat down on the sofa in the lounge, gesturing for Quentin to sit as well.
Quentin sat down opposite her, then reached out and loosened his tie, looking a little more relaxed than he did with outsiders.
"Tell me why you think this investment is feasible," Lindsey said in a gentle voice.
Quentin began to analyze it seriously. "First of all, we have a completely blank slate in real estate. With Evans Corporation making a path for us, we only need to invest a little bit of money upfront, then we’ll naturally make a profit. Even if we lose money, it won’t cause much of a loss. Secondly, Evans Corporation is actively looking for a partner. If we can pull such an ally, it’ll be of great help for our future expansion in the European market. Also, this is the third time their company has offered to help us, so I can’t think of a suitable reason to refuse."
After he said that, he shrugged his shoulders and smiled. Opposite him, Lindsey could not help but smile as well. They had an unspoken tacit understanding between them.
Lindsey picked up the cup of tea on the table and took a sip, not saying anything for a while.
Quentin also took a sip of tea. "I know what you’re worried about."
Lindsey raised her eyes and looked over, with doubt written all over her face.
Quentin pointed to the bouquet of lilies that were put in the corner by Lindsey.
"Feelings and work are separate matters," Quentin calmly and objectively said to Lindsey.
Lindsey made an exaggerated expression of surprise. "So you think Arthur did this to pursue me? And I refused because I didn't want him to accept him?"
Quentin did not say anything, but his expression was clearly telling her otherwise.
Lindsey simply wanted to laugh.
"I have my reasons," Lindsey said patiently. It was rare that they would have such a big disagreement on one thing and it felt odd.
"Real estate in the country is already nearing saturation, so our focus now should be on discovering new livable environments and creating luxury residential areas. Our target market shouldn’t just be the general public. This is beneficial for long-term development. You’ve read so many market analyses, so you should know the current situation better than I do."
Quentin was extraordinarily insistent this time. "Arthur's idea can make a splash in the current market, especially targeting young people who want to buy houses. This will be the future trend of real estate."
The two of them were uncompromising for a while, and the atmosphere was a bit stiff.
Finally, Lindsey took a step back. "Then give me a copy of the proposal and the three-phase analysis report. I still think an initial investment of $200 million is too much. We have two big ongoing projects at the moment, so the most we can offer is $100 million. You should go personally for the discussion."
After saying that, Lindsey put one hand on her forehead and sighed gently. She somehow felt like laughing a little in her heart.
During this half a year, Quentin was undoubtedly a very good partner. At first, Lindsey was not very familiar with Denarius’ matters and relied on Quentin solely to guide her. They also closed many deals together.
Lindsey had already expected that they would have a difference in opinion long ago. She also noticed the change in Quentin's personality.
She froze for a few seconds before she walked over and picked up the bouquet. Then, she opened the office door and put the flowers on Emilia’s desk.
"President, this..." Emilia was proofreading a document. When she saw the bouquet falling from the sky, she was somewhat stunned.
Lindsey folded her arms and said somewhat helplessly, "Help me to deal with it. In the future, don't let them send in any more flowers." After that, Lindsey strode back into her office with her nude heels, leaving Emilia a little dumbfounded with the bouquet in front of her.
Usually, Lindsey was gentle and resolute. Previously, Lindsey made an example out of Director Sanders. He begged her to let him stay as the board of directors, but Lindsey was firm on her decision. The rest of the directors and staff who stayed were now compliant with Lindsey and had no ulterior motives.
Thus, when Lindsey said not to allow any more flower deliveries, Arthur’s specially-hired florist was stopped at the entrance of Denarius on Wednesday.
"Who is this for?" The security guard at the entrance asked routinely as he looked at the florist's familiar face and the bouquet of lilies in his hands.
The florist was used to this and said, "For Ms. Lindsey Juhl."
After saying that, he was ready to go in, but the security guard stopped him. "You can’t go in!"
The florist was stunned, looked up, and saw that he was indeed at Denarius. However, the security guard had a stern face and blocked him. "Our President has ordered that no one is allowed to deliver flowers to her."
The florist was completely dumbfounded.
Lindsey felt relieved that no one knocked on her door presenting a bouquet this week. However, she did not expect a "chance encounter" in the afternoon.
