Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 690

"Sieben!" Lindsey rang the doorbell and called Sieben's name in between.

However, after several minutes, the door in front of her was still closed. The usually energetic face did not come to open the door.

No, Sieben’s face was no longer lively. Her eyes had sunken in and her cheeks also became much thinner. It seemed that she had lost her energy from before.

Lindsey finally lost patience. The worry in her heart made her antsy, so she reached out and placed her finger on the door lock.

The door was finally opened with a click.

Previously, Soren registered Lindsey’s fingerprint to their apartment just in case, and she never thought it would come in handy at this time.

There were several pairs of Soren's and Sieben's shoes at the entrance which were not very well placed. This was Sieben's bad habit that she could never change even after Soren nagged at her many times.

Since Soren’s death, Sieben did not put away any of Soren's belongings. Even the t-shirt that Soren casually changed out of before leaving home that day was still thrown at the corner of the sofa.

It looked as if nothing happened.

It was like all of this was still waiting for that person to come back and clean it up, so Sieben could continue to make this mess. Soren would just appear behind her with a smile and give her a gentle and doting pat on the head, then he would go and clean it all up.

"Sieben!" Lindsey's voice echoed in the apartment that seemed a bit empty because of the lack of human presence.

She pushed the door open and walked in. Her heart was tense and she dared not breathe too loudly for fear that she would see an image that she could not handle.

Luckily, Lindsey went from the living room to the bedroom and bathroom, and there were no uncontrollable situations.

The only sound inside the apartment was Lindsey's own footsteps and her voice calling out to Sieben from time to time.

As she searched every corner of the house and saw no one, Lindsey's heartbeat became faster instead.

"Sieben..." Lindsey’s chest heaved. She went to Sieben and Soren's previous bedroom and opened the drawer at the bedside table. Sure enough, Soren's ashes that used to be there were gone.

Lindsey stood up abruptly.

She looked around the room and nothing else was missing. Their things were still in their original place, except the urn.

‘Where would she take the urn to?’

Lindsey fished out her phone and called Sieben while she walked outside to find her. When she passed by the living room, Lindsey's eyes suddenly swept across the coffee table and saw something pressed under a teacup.

An automated female voice came to her ears, "The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Lindsey took the phone away from her ear and held it tightly in her hand. She walked over to the coffee table and slowly picked up the gray card pressed under the teacup.

The sliding door at the balcony facing the living room seemed to be left open, and the wind that blew in from nowhere hit the back of Lindsey's neck, which made her feel somewhat cold.

"Lindsey, I'm leaving." This was the first sentence written on the gray card.

Lindsey waved the card in her hand and pretended to be relaxed and said, "Sieben’s gone on a trip overseas and may not come back for a long time, but she said she’ll come back eventually."

When they heard that Sieben would not be back for a long time, Dezi and Mrs. Wendy’s expressions changed in unison.

To keep them from worrying, Lindsey handed the card in her hand to Mrs. Wendy. "She’s just tired of staying here and wants to change her mood." She then stroked Dezi's head. "Don't think too much. Wait for Mommy, okay? Mommy will get changed and send you to school."

After Mrs. Wendy experienced the shock of the last incident, she had been in a poor mental state and looked very pale. Lindsey asked the doctor to do a checkup, but there was no underlying illness.

It was probably psychological trauma.

When Mrs. Wendy read that Sieben would not hurt herself, her heart finally settled down and her hand that was holding the note trembled a little.

Next to her, Deziz suddenly went forward and held Mrs. Wendy's hand. He shoved his warm hand into her palm and said, "Grandma, Sieben will be back soon, don't worry!"

Mrs. Wendy's cloudy eyes had a hint of brightness. "You’re right, she'll be back soon."

Lindsey did not try to find Sieben. Like those regular mornings, Lindsey quickly changed her clothes and put on some makeup to disguise herself again as Denarius' newly appointed she-devil. After sending Dezi to school, she moved on to her own battlefield.

Her office was the same one that Zayn used to occupy. The layout of the office was the same as well. Every time Lindsey sat on the chair behind the desk and talked to the person across from her, she had the illusion that Zayn was beside her.

The secretary at the door was still Emilia, and the most respected and privileged personal assistant in Denarius was still Quentin.

From this perspective, it was clear that nothing happened and nothing changed.
