Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 679

When Lindsey heard Dezi’s voice, she finally returned to her senses a little and snapped out of her lifeless state for a while. She turned her gaze to Dezi, who was standing in the doorway. Her face looked so withered and torn from this backlit angle.

Suddenly, Dezi felt a kind of fear from the bottom of his heart, which made him run over to Lindsey. He stood next to the hospital bed and reached out one arm to hug Lindsey’s waist while his soft voice trembled as he called out to her, “Mommy...”

Lindsey’s gaze landed on the little one next to her. He had grown taller again and almost reached her chest. Time truly was a magical thing. Dezi was clearly so small when she first brought him back home and he could not even talk yet.

Her dazed eyes that looked like a pool of stagnant water suddenly rippled as if someone had thrown a small pebble into it. Lindsey lifted her hand and stroked the back of Dezi's head, feeling the softness of his hair. She then asked in a hoarse voice, "Why did you come here?"

It had been a long time since Dezi burrowed his head into her arms like this. Dezi could feel the coldness of Lindsey's fingers, which seemed to give him a glimpse of the sadness brewing at the bottom of Lindsey’s heart.

Dezi could not help but show a faint smile. "I miss you, Mommy...I haven't seen you in four days...do you miss me?"

Lindsey nodded her head.

Dezi was happy after he got an affirmative answer. He carefully pushed himself out of Lindsey’s arms and looked at her face. He asked worriedly, "Mommy, are you not feeling well?"

"It's nothing." Lindsey shook her head. "I just accidentally fell...don't worry."

Dezi trusted her, so he did not look deeper into her injuries. A child’s world was simple and pure. Since his mother told him not to worry, he could put his mind at ease.

He took off the small school bag from his shoulder, then carefully took out a stack of things from it and handed it to Lindsey like it was a treasure. "These are the award certificates that the school gave me!"

The look on his face was so satisfied and happy. Lindsey took it over and looked at it one by one. She knew about some of them, like the best handwriting, the best academic performance, and the most popular, etc. However, there were others she did not know about.

There was an award that Lindsey did not expect, and it was for "The Best Family", awarded to Dezi Juhl.

Lindsey stared at the words, "Best Family", and did not move for a long time.

Thinking that Lindsey was just surprised, Dezi said happily, "Daddy edited a whole set of photos of my field trip, which included Mommy, Daddy, and me! Mommy, you’re so pretty in them too!"

Daddy.

Lindsey’s eyes turned watery all of a sudden and tears once again fell without warning.

"Dezi, come over here!" At this moment, Dezi was pulled by Yvette.

Yvette led him towards the bathroom. She said softly, "Did you wash your hands just now? Mommy is sick, so before we talk to her, we have to wash our hands, okay?"

Dezi's voice came through the door sounding unusually well-behaved. "Okay, got it." Dezi did not see Lindsey in tears because Yvette pulled him over right before.

His arrival was like a bright light that broke through the darkness in Lindsey's eyes, which made her abruptly realize that she still had a child waiting for her at home.

Mrs. Wendy too. She was so old. If she knew of this news, would she be able to take it?

There was also Sieben and Soren...

Lindsey haphazardly wiped the tears on her face, but the more she wiped, the more flowed out.

Her mood was unmistakably much milder with Dezi around, which made Yvette breathe a sigh of relief because she was initially really afraid that Lindsey's state of mind would not improve even when Dezi was here.

Lindsey was patient and talked to Dezi for a long time. Dezi said that he wanted to eat, so they also ate something before Dezi reluctantly left carrying his schoolbag.

Although Lindsey had no appetite at all, she still forced herself to eat more.

She sent Dezi to the door of the ward and only withdrew her gaze after he was out of sight.

Yvette followed them out and stood next to Lindsey as she was worried about her. When she saw that Lindsey finally retracted her gaze, she quickly said, "Sieben’s in the next ward, and Aunt Wendy’s downstairs because it's more convenient for her to be on the cardiac floor."

Lindsey nodded and headed next door, but stopped when she reached the ward. Her voice choked as she said, "How’s Sieben?"

She suddenly felt scared and did not dare to push open the door in front of her. That was because she did not know what would be facing her inside. She admitted that she could not bear to see Sieben blame and resent her, nor could she bear the fact that Sieben's heart was as dead as her own.

"Sieben still hasn’t spoken since she woke up. She regained consciousness earlier than you and is very cooperative with the doctor, but she just won’t talk," Yvette said in a low voice.

Yvette personally took care of Lindsey because Lindsey was still unconscious. They hired a caregiver for Sieben and Yvette would come over from time to time to check on her.

"Sorry for all the trouble for the past two days." Lindsey turned her head to the side and said to Yvette.

Yvette waved her hand. Even without her relationship with Shaun, Lindsey was her close friend. Now that they were in this situation, besides her, who else could take care of them?
