Lindsey was in a room. She did not know if the door had been specially modified for her arrival. Through the door panel, she could hear the contents of Zayn and Ann's conversation clearly.
Her hands and feet were bound and her mouth was gagged, leaving only her eyes and ears open.
Besides Lindsey, two guards that were covered up tightly from head to toe were also in the room with her. She did not know where Allie hired them from.
Lindsey thought for a moment that she had misheard.
Zayn threw Allie into the fire?
Not only that, Allie did not die and even escaped, then became Ann after a full plastic surgery.
Outside, Ann's voice continued, "Do you know how much I hated myself when I woke up and saw my scarred skin in the mirror? The doctor told me that there was only so much they could do, but it was still ugly and disgusting. I felt disgusted even looking at it, so I got so many tattoos. Look at how beautiful they are!"
Lindsey did not hear Zayn's voice, but Ann's words gave her goosebumps.
Ann's flashy tattoos floated in her mind, and Lindsey once again concluded in her heart that Ann most likely went crazy.
Lindsey could not say how she felt. She felt sad, deplorable, and helpless. She was also somewhat shocked at Zayn's ruthlessness.
Even inmates on death row had a chance to defend themselves before the execution. Lindsey really could not imagine what Allie did that would make Zayn do this to her.
‘Did it have something to do with me?’
Lindsey did not dare to think about it any further.
It was probably because of this that her first thought when she realized the seriousness of the matter was, ‘What would happen to Zayn if the police found out?’
The two people who dragged her into the room stood there like statues. Lindsey was a bit distracted because her mind was in a mess.
At this time, a small sound suddenly came from outside the window. The two people behind her immediately raised their heads alertly to look out the window.
"Who’s there?" One of them asked. His footsteps were gentle and he appeared at the window by the time he finished his question.
The thick curtains separated the room from the outside world. The man dressed in black waited for two or three seconds and did not hear any more movement, but he still lifted the curtains all of a sudden.
There was nothing in the slightly barren lawn at night. The window was tightly closed, and there was no way anything could slip in.
The man in black double-checked to make sure everything was fine before he put his mind at ease.
Lindsey could not see what was happening behind her and could only hear the man’s footsteps. She could also hear his deep voice, “It’s nothing, probably the wind.”
This room probably used to be a storage room in the Wilford mansion. Now there was nothing left inside. The lights were not turned on in the room, but Lindsey could still see vaguely once her eyes adapted to the dark environment.
This room only had a door and a window. It was small and did not seem to be a room in a mansion. The window was slightly high and not large, so it was unnoticeable once it was covered by a cloth curtain.
Suddenly, there was a sound of a heated argument outside.
Lindsey's attention immediately turned back outside, but this time, Ann's voice was much sharper than before, which made it sound unusually harsh.
Zayn did all this for her. He did this to protect her. However, Lindsey could not make a sound. After struggling for a long time, she could only whimper meaninglessly.
"Shut up! Be quiet!" The man in black behind her saw that Lindsey nearly knocked her chair over and impatiently slapped her hard on the back of the head.
This slap was not at all gentle. Lindsey had already suffered a blow to the head earlier, so she felt a bout of dizziness and almost vomited again.
Outside, Ann, who was standing opposite Zayn, shook her head. Her eyes were hollow as she said, "You said that I should seek revenge on the right person?"
She suddenly looked at Zayn with an innocent and puzzled face. "This has nothing to do with Lindsey? Why do you always want to protect her? Why?!"
Ann held the small white remote control tightly in her palm. "Why does she deserve it?"
Zayn did not say anything, but the look on his face was self-evident.
He was willing to do anything for Lindsey.
Ann leaned her back against the door of the storage room where Lindsey was kept. Ann was alone, but none of Zayn's people dared to approach her.
Zayn stepped forward and calmly questioned her, "You just want revenge, don't you?"
Ann did not speak and looked vigilantly at his face. There was nowhere she could retreat to. Her back was against the wall and the door to the storage room was on her left-hand side.
While the people in the living room were confronting each other. A loud noise suddenly erupted from inside the storage room that had only three people inside, shocking everyone's ears.
