Ginny Young laughed mischievously on the other end of the call and Lindsey could only imagine the impish look on her face. Lindsey then said, "It's a long story. I'll explain it to you some other day."
After hanging up the phone, Lindsey called Shaun. She was feverish and her mind was so muddled that she could not remember many details, but she recalled that while she was in a daze, Shaun had sent her to the hospital and carefully fed her the medicine.
"Linds, are you feeling better?" Shaun's first words when he answered her call revealed his concern for her wellbeing.
"Yeah, I’m feeling much better now...Zayn has taken the past few days off to take care of me at home." Lindsey mentioned Zayn on purpose so that Shaun would not be worried about her. It was also to eliminate her brother's affection for her.
Lindsey felt that she had owed him too much, but she could not give him the affection he desired beyond that of siblings.
"Okay, that's good." Shaun understood Lindsey’s intentions. He did not want to make things difficult for her, so after a short conversation, Shaun hung up the phone with the excuse of needing to attend a meeting.
Lindsey looked at the call log and sighed with a heavy heart.
......
Lindsey did not go to work these few days, so Zayn uncharacteristically followed suit.
After they finished their breakfast, there were many visitors at the Guggenheim mansion that came in one after another.
"Mr. Guggenheim, this is the new summer collection. We’ve also brought over the new early autumn collection that was just shipped from overseas." A well-dressed middle-aged woman said respectfully to Zayn, who was sitting on the sofa.
As soon as she finished the introduction, a row of girls holding jewelry boxes suddenly came forward and stood in front of Lindsey.
Zayn did not even lift his head. He was wearing gold-rimmed glasses, which concealed the harshness and cruel look in his eyes, making him look surprisingly gentle.
"Let my wife pick."
The middle-aged woman secretly thought that this woman was truly blessed. She then stood next to Lindsey and introduced the collections to her one by one. She recited the design concept of each piece of jewelry and made it sound as exciting as a novel.
Lindsey glanced at Zayn several times. She still could not figure out what was happening.
However, Zayn did not notice her gaze and remained unmoved.
Since there were outsiders present, Lindsey did not make a scene and put on a fake smile as she listened to the middle-aged woman seriously.
Zayn’s tastes were not cheap and Lindsey was secretly shocked by the price of all this jewelry.
After the presentation, the middle-aged woman asked Lindsey which ones she liked with a polite smile on her face.
"Can I not choose any of them?" Lindsey had no money.
The middle-aged woman's smile grew wider thinking that Lindsey was teasing her. She was just about to speak when a cold male voice sounded from behind her.
"The entire Sunflower Collection and Galaxy Collection, and the caladium bracelet..."
Zayn mentioned a good selection of items in front of him. The middle-aged woman's eyes lit up for a moment and said, "Mr. Guggenheim, you have a good eye. These sets are very compatible with the Young Madam’s style."
Lindsey just watched silently as Zayn bought her a bunch of expensive jewelry.
After the middle-aged woman left, Zayn still did not say a word and Lindsey was getting increasingly confused with his actions.
The two of them were quiet. After lunch, Lindsey was just about to rest upstairs when another group of people came to the Guggenheim mansion.
"Mr. Guggenheim, these are our latest collection of the season."
Zayn still signaled for them to show it to Lindsey. Trying on clothes was much more tiring than looking at jewelry. Since there were outsiders present, Lindsey did not show her temper.
In the end, Zayn still made the decision and bought a dozen outfits for Lindsey. He did not even lift his head during the entire process, so how would he know which ones looked good on her?
When everyone left, Lindsey plopped down on the sofa and asked, "Zayn, what exactly do you mean by this?"
She was perplexed.
"Don't you women like this stuff?" Zayn's voice was faint.
