Shaun Juhl did not shy away and looked directly at Zayn Guggenheim. His usual warm and tender eyes were filled with contempt at that moment.
"Your woman? Zayn Guggenheim, do you think you deserve her?"
Zayn felt the heat coming from the person in his arms and uncharacteristically, he did not get mad with Shaun and only picked Lindsey up. Due to his sudden movements, Lindsey made a sound.
"She’s my wife."
This sentence was like an arrow that shot Shaun in his heart, hitting him where it hurt most.
After saying that, Zayn did not even take pleasure in seeing the defeat on Shaun's face. He just adjusted Lindsey's posture to make her more comfortable and walked out of Shaun’s house without the slightest emotion on his chiseled face.
Shaun was still pressed down by Zayn’s men. His eyes were red like an enraged trapped beast, but he could only watch as Lindsey was being taken away from him yet again.
"Zayan Guggenheim, she doesn't love you!" Shaun suddenly yelled when they were about to disappear from his sight.
The advancing footsteps paused momentarily and Zayn's voice was cold and heartless as he said, "Right back at you."
Lindsey's face was burning red. The fever that had already receded suddenly came back more potent than before.
She could vaguely hear Zayn's voice, but her mind was too muddled to understand what he was saying.
Lindsey’s head hurt and her eyes were glued shut. She struggled to open a tiny slit and could see the man’s sharp jawline that was emitting a chilling aura.
She tried to lift her fingers, but she had no strength, so she put them down again.
"Zayn..."
Zayn held Lindsey tightly in his arms and was instructing the driver to drive them home while he arranged for a doctor to come over.
Hearing Lindsey’s kitten-like murmurs, Zayn's voice faltered. After a while, it returned to normal, but the chilling aura he emitted was no longer as intimidating as it was earlier.
"Zayn...Z..."
"I’m right here." Zayn looked down at Lindsey. The hair near her forehead was drenched with sweat. She mumbled his name, but her eyes remained shut.
Was she dreaming about him?
Although untimely, this thought soothed Zayn’s anger a little.
‘How does she not love me? Shaun Juhl is just jealous…’
Zayn looked indifferent as he pushed aside the hair that clung to Lindsey’s face. He then instructed the driver to go faster.
Quentin figured that Zayn had already brought Lindsey into the car before ordering his men to let go of Shaun.
"Mr. Juhl, my apologies. The President is just overly anxious looking for his wife." Quentin had a polite smile on his face. Seeing Shaun’s exhausted stubbled face and bloodshot eyes, Quentin witnessed a rarely seen look of despair in a man.
Although Quentin was polite, the words, "his wife", sounded harsh in Shaun’s ears.
Zayn had just stabbed Shaun in the heart and Quentin was now pouring salt over his wound.
Shaun moved his bound wrists and coldly grunted without even glancing at them.
