Zayn was still wearing a bathrobe and was sitting on the sofa when he received the report. He could not sleep all night because Lindsey was still missing.
"Check all the major hotels in the city."
Quentin shuddered at that voice and his sleepiness from staying up all night instantly vanished.
On the other hand, Lindsey was completely unaware that Zayn was on the verge of turning the whole city upside down searching for her. She was still in a deep sleep.
Shaun put Lindsey down and could not help but reach his thumb out to gently touch her slightly red and delicate cheeks. He was startled by the heat when he touched Lindsey's forehead.
She was feverish again.
Shaun took out the electronic thermometer to take her temperature, then fed her the fever-reducing medication he brought back from the hospital.
Lindsey felt so unbearable from the fever that she woke up in a daze. However, she could not open her eyes and felt someone putting some pills in her mouth, so she subconsciously wanted to spit them out.
"No, take it away! I don't want medicine..." Lindsey did not like taking medicine.
Shaun was patient and lifted her so that she was leaning on his body. There was not the slightest bit of impatience in his eyes as he said, "Linds, be a good girl and eat the medicine. You won’t feel so bad after eating it."
Lindsey felt someone gently coaxing her as he held her in his arms.
The person's voice was gentle and he sounded extremely doting and tolerant, which was very different from the cold and ruthless voice hidden in the heart.
She slowly opened her mouth and swallowed the bitter medicine.
Shaun was holding Lindsey and saw her pained expression. Her forehead was covered in sweat, which made her hair cling to her face. Shaun reached out wanting to fix her hair, but when he touched her, Lindsey leaned her head on his hand and started sobbing.
He froze and wanted to withdraw his hand, but it was already stained with Lindsey's tears.
Lindsey’s fever made her so confused that she could not tell who was holding her.
She thought that the person was Zayn and wanted to push him away. However, she had no strength to do so. The man just held her tightly as if she was most precious to him.
Her hand that wanted to push him away gradually fell, so Shaun thought that Lindsey had fallen asleep. Unexpectedly in the next second, she wrapped her arm around Shaun and buried her face in his chest. She was burning like a small furnace in Shaun's arms.
"Zayn..." Lindsey murmured.
Shaun was stunned and saw a tear slip through the corner of Lindsey’s eyes. He did not move for a long time.
Lindsey thought that she was dreaming. For the first time, Zayn did not push her away nor did he speak to her harshly with disdain in his eyes.
‘This must be a dream...let me just live in this dream a little longer.’
The person whom Shaun had been pining for years leaned wholeheartedly in his arms, so Shaun could not resist it and hugged her tightly in his arms.
It was dawn outside, signaling the beginning of a new day.
Zayn had been searching for Lindsey all night and his face looked unusually haggard but more so, grim.
"Still nothing?"
"We’ve checked all the major hotels and still can’t find her."
Zayn was silent. The sunlight outside the window spilled in and shone on half of his body.
Quentin thought that Zayn would be furious, but to his surprise, Zayn just lifted his hand to look at his watch. He then called the senior management of Hemera.
