Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 613

Lindsey actually could not stand seeing anyone crying like this in front of her and begging her like this.

She avoided her gaze and frowned as she asked Jess, “If I drugged you and watched as you were brought into an old man’s room without helping you, then tell you that I didn’t mean it, would you forgive me?”

Jess cried and could not say anything, but Lindsey did not expect an answer and continued, "I don't think you will. You’ll only blame me and ask why I did this to you. Why wasn’t I brave enough to get someone to save you and why didn’t I tell you the truth earlier."

The person across from her opened her mouth, but could not say anything. She just remained silent.

There was nothing to say because it was all true.

"Honestly." Lindsey turned her head again to look at those watery eyes. Her tone was light, but every word she said was heavy, "Why shouldn't I blame you?"

Jess' mouth moved. After a long time, she finally shouted, "But you’re clearly fine! You were saved!"

"Slap!" A crisp slap landed on her face immediately after.

Lindsey spared no strength with this slap that her fingers felt numb. In contrast to Jess' face that instantly turned red and swollen, Lindsey's face turned pale.

"Because I was saved and wasn’t raped by that beast, I should be tolerant of you, who conspired with those scum to hurt me? But what if no one saved me? What if something really happened to me? Will you feel guilty? Or will your conscience be troubled and you’ll just continue to pretend that you’re weak and innocent?"

Lindsey’s voice rose with each sentence. She was so infuriated that there was a completely unfamiliar coldness on her face.

Quentin silently took a step back. All four people that were present were stunned by Lindsey.

However, Lindsey did not stop and slowly stepped forward as she said, "You think that you’re innocent? You think that you had no choice? Is this an excuse for you to save yourself at the expense of others? There’s nothing wrong with selfishness, but to disguise selfishness as a necessity is simply repulsive!"

After saying these words, Lindsey’s chest heaved violently. She also felt somewhat relieved like she had used up all her strength.

Jess froze in place and did not move for a long time. She could not say anything either.

She had never seen this side of Lindsey. In front of her subordinates, Lindsey always seemed very nice and rarely lost control of her emotions. She also rarely lost her temper. If someone made a mistake, Lindsey would correct them. She would tell them softly and was not too stern telling them that such a simple mistake should not happen again...

The trust between people was difficult to establish, but it was just a matter of a moment for it to collapse.

After she said that, Lindsey did not look at Jess again. She just said to Quentin in a dull voice without hesitation, “Hand her over to the police. I’m leaving.”

Jess subconsciously tried to grab Lindsey, but she could not touch her and did not say anything. Lindsey’s words were more painful than that slap earlier.

The girl's sobs came from behind her, but Lindsey did not turn around and quickly left the villa. It was already dark outside. Lindsey walked out a long way before she finally slowed down.

The car behind her honked at her. Lindsey looked back a little startled and bumped right into the gaze of the man in the driver's seat.

Lindsey was instantly pinned in place by that gaze. She thought that it was Quentin, but the person looking back at her was Zayn Guggenheim.

Zayn looked at Lindsey through the windshield. He did not know if it was his headlights or if Lindsey just looked like that, but Lindsey’s face was a little too pale and her eyes were red.

The extreme contrast between her red eyes and pale face made Lindsey look frighteningly vulnerable.

She clenched her fists and released them a few times. She really wanted to avoid Zayn at all costs. What did they have to talk about anyway?

However, avoidance was not the solution.

Seeing the dilemma going through Lindsey’s face, Zayn did not rush her and patiently waited for her.

In front of Zayn, Lindsey was always unwilling to show her weakness. She did not want him to see her vulnerabilities, so she always wanted to maintain the little pride she had, even if that did not mean anything at all.

After squeezing her wrist, Lindsey finally took a step back and ignored that repulsive feeling. She lowered her head and said, "Okay."

Zayn did not bring a driver today and drove himself. Lindsey hesitated when she got into the car and chose to sit on the passenger side.

"Seatbelt." Zayn reminded her in a low voice.

Lindsey did not move and only gave a short "oh". Zayn looked at her coldly and said, "Tsk tsk...do you want me to help you fasten your seatbelt?"

She then realized what he said and hurriedly turned to put her seatbelt on, then whispered, "No need."

Strangely enough, before this, Lindsey always had an indefinable resentment towards Zayn, but the intensity of this emotion would fluctuate from time to time.

After last night's events, that resentment was gone and it turned into guilt and shame.

She knew that she was the one who did not let Zayn leave at the time.
