Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 607

Lindsey did not hear her phone ring at first and let it ring for a long time before she picked it up.

"Hello, is this Ms. Juhl?" A polite question came from the other end of the call.

Lindsey had not completely extracted herself from her emotions earlier, so she froze for a moment and said, "Yes, who’s speaking?"

“I’m calling from the Atlantic City Police Department. Yesterday, we caught a suspect at The Pine Hotel that might be related to your case. Do you have time to come to the police station?”

The Pine Hotel was the location of the seminar that Lindsey attended yesterday. Her heart jumped with a foreboding feeling. She asked with some nervousness, "May I ask what for exactly?"

"The suspect's name is Dale Wagner. We received a report at the time that the suspect drugged you, so we need your cooperation to take your statement."

The police actually wanted to go to Lindsey’s door yesterday to get her statement, but Zayn forced Felipe Jipson to push it to noon the next day and even asked them to call and get Lindsey's consent before calling her in for her statement.

Lindsey had never heard of a man named Dale Wagner, but someone had indeed drugged her yesterday, which led to the ridiculous series of events that followed.

After some struggle, Lindsey finally replied, "Sure, I’ll go to the police station this afternoon."

Once she hung up, she saw that it was already past noon.

It was surprising that she had been sleeping for so long. She did not feel any abnormalities other than the dizziness when she just woke up. It seemed that the drug did not have other side effects on her, so she put her mind at ease and got up from the bed.

She was wearing her usual soft pajamas. Lindsey did not know when she was sent back and could not be bothered to think about who helped her to change into her pajamas. She threw her thoughts to the back of her mind and broke down when she took a shower.

The red marks on her body once again reminded her of last night’s madness. Lindsey quickly scrubbed her body and found a long-sleeve turtleneck shirt to cover herself up tightly.

When she pulled open the bedroom door, Mrs. Wendy happened to walk out of the kitchen with a bowl of soup. When she saw Lindsey, she did not look any different from usual. "You're awake! Help me bring out the fish from the kitchen."

Lindsey looked at her and did not move. Mrs. Wendy stomped her foot and was a little anxious. "What’s wrong with you?"

"Oh, I'll go now." Lindsey just felt that she had done something wrong, so she felt embarrassed when Mrs. Wendy saw her, but Mrs. Wendy seemed normal, which somehow dialed down Lindsey's guilt.

When Lindsey sat down at the table, Mrs. Wendy took a look at her before she said slowly, "Zayn sent you home last night."

Lindsey had just picked up a slice of fish on her fork and dropped it back onto her plate before she asked a little woodenly, "What...?"

A female police officer took Lindsey into a room with a closed door. She kicked out the male police officer that was inside so that Lindsey would feel more comfortable among women. The female police officer then pointed to the man on the monitor and asked, "Do you recognize this man?"

She could only see what was in the interrogation room and could not hear any sounds from inside. The man on the screen lowered his head. His big belly seemed to have deflated a great deal today, which made him look more disheveled.

His eyes were bloodshot from staying up all night. Lindsey stared at the big black mole on his chin and she suddenly thought of Zayn holding her hand yesterday as he said, "It's not a mole, it's a nevus, and it isn't that far down. It's a little more upward."

The police officer next to her saw Lindsey staring at the man without speaking. Lindsey’s face was pale, but the tips of her ears were a little red. She then waved her hand in front of Lindsey's eyes and asked a little puzzled, "Ms. Juhl, did you hear me?"

Lindsey abruptly returned to her senses and nodded. "Although I didn't see him very clearly at the time, someone drugged me and brought me to a strange room. This man was also in the room."

The police officer originally saw Lindsey’s face turn pale and thought that Lindsey did not want to talk about it. She did not expect Lindsey to be so frank. She paused for a moment and quickly took out her book and pen to take some notes. She then asked, "Are you sure?"

Lindsey nodded. "I didn't see his face clearly, but I can remember the mole on his chin very clearly, and that big belly. I have a deep impression of it because he was squatting in front of me with his belly on top of my head. I felt...very repulsed, so I can recall it very well.

Even now when Lindsey recalled the man touching her face with his hands and tried to take off her clothes, she still felt disgusted.
