"I can't bear it if anything were to happen to you."
This second seemed to be stretched for a long time. Lindsey still remembered this moment after a while.
Lindsey sniffled and avoided Zayn's eyes. "Nothing will happen. If he still wants Dezi, he won't do anything to me. Otherwise, you won't let him anywhere near Dezi again and you won't let him go, right?"
After saying that, without waiting for Zayn to speak, Lindsey suddenly said in a stern voice, "Nothing will happen! Zayn, take Dezi and go down first. Do I need to beg you before you’re willing to do this?"
Zayn slowly shook his head.
The door to the room could no longer hold up. Lindsey pushed Zayn. "Get Dezi out of here!"
Dezi, who was lying in Zayn's arms, had been obediently keeping his eyes tightly closed and suddenly cried.
His cry was like a kitten's purr. He could not cry any louder, but he was really upset.
Dezi did not want his mother to stay back, nor did he want his father to stay.
Zayn took a deep breath, then closed his eyes. "Okay, I'll take the child and jump. Don’t hesitate and jump down right after us. Follow me closely and I can protect you both."
"Mm." Lindsey smiled at him. "I trust you."
What else was more empowering than having the person he loved to believe in him wholeheartedly?
One floor was only three meters high, and this renovated building was not much taller, so it was nothing to Zayn.
Zayn looked deeply at Lindsey. "Follow me closely." After that, he held onto Dezi while his other hand pulled up the window frame. He then quickly slid down the outer wall.
At this moment, Zayn thought that he must look incomparably wretched, but he did not have time to care.
Below them, Soren had already sent as many people as he could to this side, but once Zayn landed on the ground, he was surrounded by Arthur’s men.
Zayn held the child in one hand as he kicked the other person away. Zayn did not know how much force he used as the person flew out a long way before landing and passed out instantly.
The rest of the people around Zayn looked at him with some fear for a moment, then they gave up on fighting others and came around to attack Zayn one by one.
Lindsey was so nervous as she watched. It was a mess downstairs and she knew that if she went out this window, she would just add to the trouble. Thus, Lindsey hesitated to follow after Zayn.
The door behind her finally caved. A few seconds after Zayn landed on the ground, it crashed open with a thud.
Lindsey suddenly turned around and saw the man who walked inside over the collapsed door.
Arthur's face was back to his handsome self and he looked pleasing to the eye. Of course, that was ignoring his words of anger and the gloom under his eyes. He stepped in and looked around only to see Lindsey all alone. The corners of his lips hooked up into a sinister smile. "Great!"
Lindsey somehow had the illusion that as he smiled, he wanted to come over and kick her out the window.
Arthur really did walk towards Lindsey.
His height made him seem a little oppressive, so Lindsey subconsciously backed up. Arthur kept speaking in Danish, so Lindsey could not understand him.
When Arthur approached her, she instinctively held the window ledge and gathered strength in her arms and legs. She wanted to climb out the window before Arthur got to her.
Compared to the hesitation she had earlier, Lindsey was more unwilling to face off this handsome man in front of her.
Arthur's men did not expect Zayn to come back and froze. In a few moments, they were knocked down to the ground by Zayn. At that moment, Zayn only had one thought in his mind, and that was he could not let anything happen to Lindsey. Even he did not realize the injuries he had sustained.
When he got to the front door of the villa, he heard an abrupt police siren behind him.
Lindsey was losing consciousness. She did not think that Arthur would be so ruthless. Perhaps Arthur was truly infuriated.
She just thought, ‘Zayn, I didn't mean to lie to you...I didn't know that this man was so easily angered.’
Just before Lindsey completely lost consciousness, the hand clasped tightly around her neck abruptly loosened.
A large bout of air rushed into her lungs. Lindsey fell to the ground and coughed frantically. Her eyes were tearing up, but before she could recover, she heard Arthur's voice. He was saying something that Lindsey could not understand.
However, this did not affect Lindsey from guessing what he was saying because she also heard the police siren outside.
The siren was sharp and continuous.
Lindsey knew that she was saved.
The feeling of escaping death was not great. Lindsey wondered if Arthur would have really strangled her to death if the police had arrived a little later.
Felipe Jipson led a team of police over. The scene was a bit unbearable and there was no way to brush it off.
Zayn's people had already thrown all their weapons to the ground before the police came.
Arthur's people clearly did not realize what had happened. They just stood frozen in place with their murder weapons and were caught red-handed.
