Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 540

Zayn was not a vengeful person, but he was extremely protective of the people he loved. If anyone dared to touch his family, Zayn was sure to make them pay.

"Yes, sir." Soren silently retreated.

After Zayn left, someone under Soren asked, "Boss, what about this guy?"

Although the man who spoke just now had a bloodied face, he was still conscious and was scared to death. The man was afraid that Soren would turn around and skin him alive. His other accomplice had already passed out and he did not know whether it was because he was scared or from the pain of his injuries.

Luckily, Soren did not have a hobby for killing people or skinning them alive, nor did Zayn. Soren just looked at the two mangled men lying on the ground like a pile of trash and tipped his chin slightly. "Bring them along, it's been a long time since I've talked to Ronan."

Hearing Soren mentioned the name “Ronan”, the man's bloodshot eyes became more panicked. Unfortunately, before he could make a plea for mercy, he was dragged down with his mouth gagged.

Soren fished out a cigarette and put it to his lips. When he was about to light it, he thought of a little girl that was disgusted by this smell and bitterly retracted his hand. Then, he casually took the cigarette from his lips and threw it in the trashcan on the side.

Although spring was approaching, the nights were still long.

In the evening, Dezi was startled by Lindsey’s panicky appearance, then he noticed that something was wrong. His little face was taut until he got home.

Lindsey did not notice anything wrong with Dezi at first. It was not until bedtime when the little one grabbed her shirt and was not willing to let her go that Lindsey noticed his helpless eyes.

"Dezi, are you scared?" Lindsey reached out and held the little one in her arms. She blamed herself for not noticing Dezi’s mental state sooner.

Dezi buried his face in Lindsey's chest, then nodded.

Lindsey was so heartbroken that she wrapped her arms around him and gently patted him on the back. "Don’t be scared, Mommy’s right here. Mommy will drive away all the bad guys and protect you. Go to sleep. Mommy will sleep with you today, okay?"

This time, Dezi nodded more heavily, then reached out and hugged Lindsey tightly. His mother's faint scent made him feel at ease. He lifted his head again and looked at Lindsey seriously as he gestured, "I want to protect Mommy!"

Dezi’s vocabulary grew and he knew how to sign a lot of words now. He had just learned the word, "protect". Lindsey’s heart melted and said softly, "When you grow up, you can protect Mommy, but now, Mommy will protect you first."

As a parent, Lindsey looked forward to Dezi growing up, yet she did not want him to grow up so quickly.

She hugged the little one tighter, then lifted her hand to switch off the lights in the room, leaving only a small bedside lamp. She then hummed a short tune until Dezi fell asleep. Lindsey was also exhausted and quickly fell asleep too.

......

Lindsey’s body clock woke her up at 7:00 am. She got up and quickly washed up, then prepared Dezi’s outfit for the day and woke him up at 7:30 am.

"Dezi, say goodbye to Grandma." Lindsey held Dezi’s hand and pushed the door with her free hand. She then said to Mrs. Wendy, "Don't send us out. Bye!"

Moreover, Lindsey should not have other thoughts because Soren also mentioned that Zayn was only doing this because he was worried about Dezi, so he got someone to protect them.

The person downstairs was the same bodyguard from yesterday. When he saw Lindsey, he automatically stepped forward. "Madam, you can go with the Young Master first. I’ll follow you from behind."

"Okay." Lindsey nodded. "Sorry to trouble you."

The bodyguard seemed to be shocked by Lindsey's politeness and hurriedly waved his hands. He almost jumped up in horror. "No, no...please don't be so polite with me."

Looking at his humble appearance, Lindsey smiled and did not speak, fearing that he would be even more uncomfortable.

Dezi carried his schoolbag and sat in the backseat. Lindsey drove carefully and did not notice any suspicious people on the way, so she let out a breath of relief. After dropping off Dezi at the kindergarten, she sped to the office.

Yesterday's incident gave Lindsey a wake-up call. Although she did not know who the enemy was, it seemed that Dezi, Mrs. Wendy, and herself might not be as safe as she thought.

Lindsey rubbed her brow. After finishing that morning's work, she got up and knocked on Shaun's office door.

Shaun was listening to his secretary telling him about his schedule for the weekend. He adjusted a few things and blocked out half a day for some free time. Then, he signaled for the secretary to leave and turned to look at Lindsey. "What's wrong? Why the sad face? Did something happen?"

Since there was no outsider around, Lindsey casually sat on the sofa and let her body sink into it. "Brother, I need your help."
