Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 522

Lindsey suddenly recalled the woman earlier today that speculated she might be someone's mistress.

If Lindsey allowed Dezi to meet Zayn whenever he wanted and let the child's dependence on Zayn fester, Lindsey wondered how long her heart’s defenses that she had finally built up with difficulty would last. She knew herself so well that if she did not push herself repeatedly, she would not have had the courage to leave Zayn at all.

Zayn already had a life of his own, and Lindsey did not want her and her child to be labeled as a homewrecker.

Since they were already divorced, they should keep a clear distance. If it was not necessary, then it was best to avoid Zayn from interacting with Dezi.

When she thought about it, Lindsey just could not contain the pain she felt in her heart.

Zayn noticed Lindsey’s change in expression and thought that she was upset over Dezi’s attitude. He said to Dezi, “Daddy will bring you and Mommy home, but you have to promise to be good. After sending you home, Daddy has to leave. Don’t make things difficult for Mommy.”

Dezi nodded obediently. Zayn then looked at Lindsey with a deep gaze and said softly, "Let’s go. Don't worry, I’ll leave after sending you both back."

Lindsey did not say anything and clutched her purse tightly.

She drove them back. Zayn looked at the rearview mirror from time to time and found that Lindsey was concentrating on the road with her lips pursed.

Only then did Zayn notice that something was wrong.

At Opal Suites.

Zayn carried Dezi out of the car. Lindsey followed and pushed the car door open.

They did not speak on the way and there was just an awkward silence. Lindsey knew that her emotions jumped out of nowhere and she had blamed everything on Zayn. She tried to force out a polite smile, but she failed and finally just said stiffly, "Thanks for today. I'll take Dezi home."

It was the same as what she said back at the kindergarten entrance.

Before Zayn could say anything, Lindsey's phone in her purse rang. It was a call from Mrs. Wendy.

Lindsey did not avoid Zayn and picked up the call in front of him. "Aunt Wendy, I'm downstairs. I'll be home soon."

Mrs. Wendy said something and the stiffness on Lindsey's face instantly turned into a faint smile. "Shaun and Yvette are here too? Great! Yes, Dezi is right beside me. I'll be back soon."

Zayn watched as Lindsey's discomfort when facing him became brighter because of Mrs. Wendy’s phone call.

When he heard the name "Shaun", he completely ignored the rest of the words that followed.

Lindsey hung up and took Dezi's little hand. "Come on, say goodbye to Daddy before we go home."

Dezi obediently waved goodbye to Zayn and gestured for Zayn to squat down. Zayn squatted down in front of him absentmindedly so that Dezi could kiss him.

After Dezi’s goodbye ritual, Lindsey walked briskly and held Dezi as she turned around to leave.

However, Zayn stopped them. “My driver said that the car broke down on the road.”

Lindsey paused in her footsteps and frowned a little. “What happened?”

Seeing Lindsey’s frown deepening, Zayn did not wait for her to refuse him and added, "Quentin just called me to say that there’s something urgent at the office. It’ll be too late if I find someone to pick me up now. I also drank a little earlier, so I can’t drive myself."

It was such heavy traffic that there were cars all around them and they could see a long line of cars ahead of them. Lindsey was slightly annoyed and tapped on the steering wheel as she muttered softly, "Why is it so jammed?!"

"Are you in a rush?" Next to her, Zayn's voice sounded. His voice was low and it was hard to tell his emotions.

Lindsey looked back at him with some confusion in her eyes. "Aren't you in a rush?"

"Oh, it seems like it isn’t very urgent now." Zayn looked at Lindsey with his flawless eyes.

He spoke in a tone that made Lindsey feel inexplicably uncomfortable. She looked ahead, but the traffic moved and she slowly picked up the pace.

"If you're not in a rush, then I'll just drop you off at the intersection in front. You can take a taxi or find someone to pick you up and go back to the office by yourself."

After moving a dozen meters and getting stuck again, Lindsey propped one hand on the steering wheel and looked at Zayn.

Their eyes met. Zayn propped up his chin on one hand. "And then what, you can go back to see your beloved 'brother'?"

"Zayn Guggenheim! What the hell is wrong with you?" Lindsey was instantly angered by his deliberate ambiguous tone.

Zayn sneered when he saw that Lindsey was angry. "What, was I right? Are you annoyed?"

Somehow, he just wanted to provoke her and make her mad.

Zayn knew that he really had some serious problems.
