S.P. Corporation's crisis still had not been lifted yet, but Ann and Zayn's engagement ceremony still went on as scheduled.
After all, they were two of the biggest names in Atlantic City, and all of the dignitaries in Atlantic City attended.
Lindsey and Yvette were with the stylist since noon, while Shaun and Dezi, who were also attending the party, had a much easier time compared to the ladies since they only needed to change their clothes.
Little Dezi, who had recently been fattened up by Lindsey, put on a tailor-made tuxedo and a small bow tie. He looked like a little gentleman.
The stylist saw that he was so cute and could not resist the itch to style his hair, making it slightly curly, which made him look all the more adorable.
The engagement party was held at the largest hotel in Atlantic City. When Lindsey got down from the car holding Dezi, several couples around who were walking inside hand in hand, saw Lindsey and paused for a while.
Lindsey openly accepted the curious eyes of the people around her. Shortly after, Shaun also came out of the car and there was another round of gasps.
She knew what they were going to say by the looks on their faces. They were probably gossiping that she had brought her new love to crash her ex-husband's party.
‘It’s really nothing new!’ Lindsey thought. Yvette went with her brother and they were right behind Lindsey.
When Lindsey saw Callum, she thought of the little indignation on his face that was also mixed with a little pride when he picked up Yvette earlier.
Shaun walked to the other side of Dezi and took his hand, also ignoring the stares around him. "Let's go!"
Lindsey calmly took Dezi's other hand and nodded. "Let's go! Dezi, mind the steps."
Dezi rarely showed up in front of the public eye. Many knew that Lindsey and Zayn had adopted a child, but after the divorce, they did not see Lindsey and the child again.
Many of them were surprised by Lindsey's beauty at first, they then quickly noticed the delicate doll-like child she was holding.
Those female guests gasped and exclaimed to their friends.
"He’s so cute!"
"Such a handsome little boy!"
"Is he really adopted? Oh my goodness!"
"......"
Dezi was oblivious to others talking about him, but he could feel those eyes on him and instinctively learned from Lindsey, holding his head up high. His lips were also pressed together so that he looked like a small adult.
Usually, the hosts of this kind of party would usually greet the guests at the door, but when Lindsey and Shaun walked in, they did not see Zayn or Ann. Instead, Quentin was standing at the door.
Quentin was holding a glass of wine. When he saw Lindsey holding the child with Shaun behind them, he suddenly pictured Lindsey making a fuss at the banquet and pressing Ann to the ground to beat her up. This was obviously very undesirable, but he just felt so excited and did not even feel surprised.
"Mad..." He nearly called her Madam again. Fortunately, Quentin had not lost his senses and stopped in time.
"Maddie, help this man," Quentin smoothly said to the waitress beside him as he pointed to a middle-aged man in his fifties.
He then turned to Lindsey. He was first stunned by how well Lindsey cleaned up, then he saw the cute little Dezi and reached out to stroke his head.
Quentin greeted them warmly like they were family. “You’re all here! Take a seat. The President’s still busy, so he’ll be here soon.”
Lindsey always thought that Quentin was well-suited to be in a costume drama with his acting skills. However, when she heard that, she was surprised that Zayn was still busy with work even during his own engagement ceremony.
There were many sounds in the hall, which created an extremely vibrant feel. Somehow, Lindsey was reminded of the marriage she and Zayn had maintained for nearly five years.
They did not have an engagement ceremony, nor a wedding, not even a proper ring. In the blink of an eye, five years had passed.
Lindsey stared at Quentin for a long time. In the end, Quentin felt uncomfortable being stared at like that and stuttered, “W...wh...what’s wrong?”
She suddenly laughed. It was not mocking or happy, but a sad and nostalgic kind from thinking about unpleasant memories.
"I remember that when I was married to Zayn, you were the one who went to City Hall with me to get our marriage license."
After Lindsey said that, she laughed and shook her head. "It’s simply too ridiculous!"
Before Quentin could react, Lindsey said something that gave him the chills on his spine. “I should’ve just gotten married to you instead if I knew all of this would happen!”
The cold sweat on Quentin's back instantly soaked through his clothes. If Zayn heard what Lindsey said, Quentin would be dead.
"Mad...no, Lindsey...Ms. Juhl, please don’t scare me like that...haha...how can you joke like that?"
Quentin was on the verge of tears.
"What joke?" A chilly voice suddenly came from behind him.
‘Speak of the devil…’
Quentin's entire body froze in place.
