It was not "Let's be together" or "I really like you, let's start dating", but rather, "I think we're suited for each other".
This message matched Zayn’s reserved image. Ann could hardly imagine what it would be like for Zayn to say that he liked or wanted to date someone.
Ann rightfully accepted it because, why not?
Now, the two of them were engaged. Ann almost laughed out loud. In such a short time, Zayn chose to be engaged to her, which showed how little his marriage with Lindsey meant to him.
Lindsey must have seen the news as well. The only regret Ann had was that she could not see Lindsey’s face when she heard the news.
She must have bawled her eyes out.
Just thinking about that made Ann so excited that she almost shivered.
Ann was alone in the office with her thoughts, so no one could see her, and that message she sent was quickly seen by Zayn.
The phone on the desk vibrated a little. A touch of disgust flashed across Quentin’s eyes, but he still clicked into it. After seeing the message, Quentin visibly gagged.
The secretary who was passing by had just brought in Zayn’s coffee and came out to see Quentin in this state. She was terrified and hurriedly came up to pat Quentin’s back while soothing his breath. "Quentin, are you okay?"
Quentin just wanted to say that he was fine, just disgusted, but the secretary said, "You can’t vomit here, or else the stench will linger and I can’t take it."
He immediately regained composure and looked like he wanted to hit her. The secretary fled back to her desk at once, then made a face at Quentin.
Quentin was so exasperated and powerlessly pointed at her. "You fool!"
The secretary showed an overly sweet smile on her doll-like face. "Not as much as you..."
Quentin shook his head and decided not to bicker with this girl.
"Quentin, why do you look like you're dying at this hour every day? Do you get your period at this time daily?" The secretary was only quiet for three seconds. Seeing that Quentin was not busy, she asked out of curiosity.
Quentin waved his hand and put his finger to his lips. "Top secret. I can’t tell you."
How could he tell her that Zayn chucked his phone to him so that he could flirt with his fiancee in his stead? He even needed to play along at times. His job was definitely not easy.
It was one thing to condemn Zayn, but Quentin still dutifully replied to the message. “I must ‘admire’ it when I get the chance.”
After sending it, Quentin gagged again.
He even reminded himself not to eat too much for lunch.
Quentin looked aggrieved as he glanced towards the President's Office. He felt that Zayn and Ann’s development was based on his efforts alone. Thinking about it, he even felt sorry for Lindsey.
However, this feeling soon passed. He took out a pile of small heart-shaped cards that he bought in bulk from his drawer and Google searched for some romantic phrases. Then, he wrote it on the card in a strong, thin font. After writing it, Quentin could not help but flatter himself.
‘Alright, tomorrow’s task is half done!’
Ann, who was sitting opposite Zayn, also looked at the phone in his hand inquisitively. Zayn nodded slightly towards her, then stood up and walked to the side to pick up the call.
He stood a little far away so Ann could not hear him, hence she did not pay attention to it.
Zayn’s cold voice seemed to have not yet adjusted from his bad mood earlier. "Aunt Wendy, it's me."
Mrs. Wendy’s tone was not great either, but she was still patient. "Zayn, where are you now?"
Zayn looked out the window at the night scene and calmly said, "At the office."
"Then can you come and see Dezi?" Mrs. Wendy said hurriedly. Although she disapproved of Zayn's approach, Mrs. Wendy could not possibly be mad at him.
Zayn's heart tightened and his eyebrows subconsciously furrowed tighter. He subconsciously began to walk out, forgetting that he was still on a date with Ann. "What's wrong with Dezi? Is he sick?"
He looked at his watch. He left the office quite late and it was almost 9:00 pm, so what would happen to the child at this hour?
Ann just raised her head and saw Zayn walking hurriedly outside. She was stunned, then quickly stood up. She was embarrassed to directly shout his name in front of the waiter, so she just picked up her purse and chased after him.
"No, he’s fine. He just misses you. Can you come over now?" Mrs. Wendy asked a little cautiously.
In fact, Lindsey swore that Zayn definitely still loved Dezi and that he would always be Dezi's father, but he was already engaged to another woman and might even have his own child in the future. At that time, he might not even have time for his own child, let alone an adopted one.
However, Mrs. Wendy could not say this in front of the child, so she spoke to Zayn with a bit of caution.
