Walking out of Ginny's house, Lindsey let out a long sigh. She remembered that Terence looked a little sinister when he smiled and he was unpredictable.
‘I hope he’s okay.’
Finn Moeller’s car was already gone. When Lindsey walked out, she unconsciously squeezed the thing in her hand. She had a thin layer of sweat on her palm, and the ring she held was wet.
Ginny did not say what the ring was for, but thinking of what those assassins said yesterday and Ginny’s story, Lindsey had a rough idea.
Old Master Moeller probably already guessed that his days were numbered and made a will in advance. This ring probably played an important role in the inheritance battle of the Moeller family.
However, Lindsey did not know why the old man gave this ring to Ginny, and why Ginny gave it to her.
On the way home, Lindsey was quite nervous and clenched her hands tightly. She did not take the ring out of her hand until she got home.
Ginny did not tell Lindsey how she should store the ring. After some thought, Lindsey took out a small safe that she never used before, keyed in a new password, and locked the quaint black gold ring inside.
Finally, she stuffed the small safe into the cabinet where Dezi kept his toys. Only then did she feel secure and clapped her hands in satisfaction.
"What are you doing in such a hurry?" Mrs. Wendy's voice came from the doorway.
Lindsey casually responded, "Just putting away something."
After a few days, Lindsey went about her life as usual. There was nothing unusual around her, but Finn Moeller was in the spotlight.
There was news about the upcoming marriage between Finn Moeller and Yvette Wendell every day. Shaun's face became increasingly grim with each passing day.
At noon, when Shaun called, Lindsey was cleaning up the house with Mrs. Wendy.
Her hair was casually pulled up, and she was holding a rag in her hand. She held the phone between her face and shoulder. "Hello."
"It's me." Shaun's voice came through, "Are you free tonight? Come have dinner with me."
Lindsey was stunned, "Huh?"
Shaun repeated patiently, "Come have dinner with me tonight."
"Why?" Lindsey asked back with some confusion. Shaun just hissed and said, "Do I need a reason to invite you to dinner?"
Lindsey hastily denied it. "Of course not, I just thought it’s strange." Why did Shaun suddenly think of asking her out?
"You don't go out much, so it's good for you to go out for a walk and keep me company."
Lindsey wanted to say that she had been going out every day, but thinking of the recent news and Shaun's increasingly despondent face, she finally agreed.
"What time? Send me the location."
Hearing her promise, Shaun sounded a little happy. "Great! I’ll send you the time and place later. Remember to dress up!"
After that, he hung up. Lindsey stared at her phone for a long time. The more she thought about Shaun’s reminder, "remember to dress up", the weirder she felt.
‘Why would I have to dress up for dinner?’
The waiter guided Lindsey to sit across from Shaun. "Please have a seat."
Lindsey lowered her head just in time to meet Shaun's raised eyes. Her eyes lit up when she saw Shaun's outfit. "Brother, you’re so handsome today!"
Shaun was wearing a silver-gray suit with a perfectly knotted tie. His hair was also gelled up, revealing his clean forehead. He looked even more handsome than usual.
When Shaun saw Lindsey’s casual outfit, he could not help but laugh. “Why didn’t you dress up when I told you to?”
Lindsey was a little stunned and thought, ‘I was afraid you were trying to set me up with someone...’
With no one around them, Lindsey felt a lot more comfortable. She sat opposite Shaun, picked up the menu and flipped through it, then asked absently, "Brother, why do you suddenly want to eat French food?"
She waited for a few seconds but did not hear Shaun’s reply. Lindsey thought that it was strange and lifted her head, but she froze when she saw the scene in front of her.
Shaun was holding a bouquet of roses in one hand as he looked at Lindsey unblinkingly.
"Wait, Brother..." Lindsey was stunned and did not understand what was going on.
Shaun's face looked like it was glowing under the warm light, and the tenderness at the corners of his eyes made him look even more charming.
"Linds, will you please stand up?" Shaun cleared his throat slightly and looked at Lindsey as he said word for word.
Lindsey froze for a moment, not knowing what he wanted to do, but she still subconsciously followed his words and stood up. She asked Shaun in a small voice, "Brother, what exactly are you trying to do?"
This was a bit too much.
