When Lindsey first moved to Opal Suites, she had already ordered a set of furniture. However, two days ago, the person from the furniture store told her that there were some issues with the wood for the set she ordered, so they could not make it in time. The next batch would take six months. Thus, Lindsey got a refund and thought that she would just choose a new set when she had the time.
Lindsey seldom went to furniture stores. The salesperson introduced the company's products to her with a smile on his face. He was so detailed and even explained to her about all the materials used. Lindsey tried and tested several pieces of furniture and finally settled on one set after a long time.
She paid the deposit and fixed a delivery time with the salesperson, then prepared to leave.
"Ms. Juhl." A slightly hoarse female voice with an indescribable charm suddenly sounded behind her.
Lindsey paused in her movements and slowly turned her head. However, after seeing the person behind her clearly, she could not stay calm.
Ann was holding Zayn’s arm and stood 3 meters away from Lindsey. Ann was looking at Lindsey with a smile.
However, to Lindsey, that smile just looked harsh.
Zayn was also looking at her, but Lindsey could not understand the emotions on his face.
Lindsey’s gaze was fixed on the couple's intertwined arms. The corners of her lips twitched but she did not succeed in pulling out a smile. Her expression was stiff and frightening.
"Ms. Juhl?" Ann's tone was somewhat puzzled like she was curious why Lindsey was not speaking.
Lindsey then snapped back to her senses and realized that she was dumbfounded. She suppressed the astringent feeling in her throat and said indifferently, "Sorry."
Ann did not mind Lindsey's attitude. She walked to Lindsey, but Zayn, whom she held by the arm, did not move. Zayn shrugged off Ann's hand and spoke in a cold voice, "I'll go over there and take a look."
He left after saying that, but he did not go far and was just a short distance away. Lindsey looked at Zayn's back and pressed her lips together, then quickly withdrew her gaze.
"Ms. Juhl, are you also here to shop for furniture?" Ann had a fake smile on her face. "Which set do you like?"
Lindsey looked at her. When Zayn was not there, she could finally squeeze out a little smile. "A lot."
"Ms. Juhl, are you buying all of them? There are so many here. If you haven’t chosen one, do you want me to help?"
"No need, we may not have the same taste." After saying that, Lindsey swept over Ann's body. Ann was wearing a red dress and had exquisite makeup. From a distance, she looked like a fireball.
Lindsey was wearing a white T-shirt with light-colored jeans. She looked simple without makeup and looked like she was still in college. The two of them did have very different styles.
The smile on Ann's face stiffened for a moment and was quickly concealed. "Ms. Juhl, you seem a bit fired up today."
Lindsey did not speak. Ann suddenly went close to Lindsey’s ear and said, “Are you upset because another woman is holding hands with your ex-husband?”
After she said that, Ann laughed happily like she heard some sort of joke.
Lindsey grasped the strap on her purse, but her face looked indifferent. She looked at Ann with cold eyes and went close to her face. Lindsey felt uncomfortable when she saw her face close up, but she endured that little bit of discomfort.
Lindsey simply wanted to applaud Ann’s shamelessness. If Lindsey could have pushed Ann down with a light shrug, she would have represented the national team in weightlifting.
However, no one cared what really happened. Ann's voice was quite loud and several shoppers who were also looking at furniture nearby immediately turned their attention to the two ladies.
Zayn, who had been on one side of the store, also came over. His brow furrowed as he stood next to Ann. He looked at Ann on the ground and then at Lindsey, asking the latter, "What's going on?"
Lindsey was irritated by the momentary flash of anger on Zayn’s face. She wanted to explain, but she swallowed her words.
Ann saw that Zayn did not take the initiative to pull her up and gritted her teeth. She then reached out to pull Zayn's arm and stood up by herself. She was still crying as she complained, "Zayn, I only asked Ms. Juhl to help me choose the furniture, but she got mad and pushed me."
Zayn did not even look at her. He just stared at Lindsey and insisted on getting an answer from her.
Lindsey just looked at the couple opposite her holding each other intimately. After a long time, she suddenly laughed coldly. She looked incredibly beautiful with a nonchalant expression. "Right, I pushed her on purpose."
Zayn and Lindsey looked at each other. The two of them saw in each other's eyes, the traces of something collapsing in that instant.
The fact that Zayn did not push Ann away and did not reject her was enough to tell the story.
Ann wiped her tears and smiled. "Perhaps Ms. Juhl didn't mean it."
