Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 455

If it were not for the tears under Lindsey’s eyes when she said this, Mrs. Wendy would have been fooled by her pretense that it did not matter to her.

Lindsey sniffled and changed her shoes. "You don't have to hide this kind of thing from me next time since I'll have to face it sooner or later."

She was holding a thermos of soup that Mrs. Wendy had prepared for Shaun. Mrs. Wendy did not say anything and watched as Lindsey changed her shoes, then opened the door and went out.

Lindsey did not take Dezi with her today. It was not good for children to go to the hospital so often, so she left Dezi at home.

After the divorce, no matter what she encountered, Lindsey would only have a momentary reaction in front of others and would regain composure soon. Mrs. Wendy just felt that Lindsey was forcibly suppressing her sadness, which would not be good for her, not to mention that Lindsey's mental condition was not particularly healthy in the first place.

Lindsey took a deep breath. By the time she got downstairs, she had already regained composure. She carried the thermos in her hand and went out to take a taxi.

It was usually relatively easy to hail a cab outside of Opal Suites aside from rush hour. Lindsey purposely avoided the rush hour, so she saw a lot of empty cabs.

However, what Lindsey did not expect was that after stopping three empty taxis in a row, the drivers looked at her and were not willing to give her a ride. In the end, she could not even get to stop a taxi.

"What's going on today? No one wants to earn money or what?" Lindsey was puzzled. The sun was getting hotter. Lindsey sighed and felt increasingly frustrated.

Quentin, who had been hiding in the bushes nearby secretly observing Lindsey, was sweating and praying that Lindsey would not blame him for this once she found out. After all, he was under specific orders from his boss.

The man's voice coming through from his headset was like a bucket of cold water that was poured on him on a hot summer’s day. "How is it?"

Quentin wiped away a handful of sweat from his face and replied, "President, the Madam hasn’t been able to hail a cab, but it doesn’t look like she’s planning to go back. Oh wait, I think she’s trying to take a bus?"

Lindsey was actually torn. She knew very well she was not in the right state of mind to drive today, but the delay in getting a cab was making her question her decision. Her gaze then fell right on the bus stop not far from the entrance of Opal Suites. She even looked at it several times.

To Quentin, she was ready to take the bus.

Quentin heard Zayn sigh over the phone. However, Quentin clearly knew that it was a sign of his rage.

"Don't stop her anymore." Zayn had no choice but to compromise.

Zayn could not bear to let Lindsey squeeze onto the bus. He closed his eyes and wanted to slam the phone in his hand to the ground.

Quentin snickered, picked up his phone, and sent a command. Half a minute later, a cab slowly stopped in front of Lindsey just when she had already given up trying to stop it.

It was not until Lindsey sat in the taxi puzzled that Quentin came out of his hiding place.

Quentin loosened up his muscles and inadvertently mentioned over the phone, "Madam is holding a thermos. I think she boiled some soup. It smells so good..."

Zayn knew that Quentin was just pulling his leg because there was no way he could smell the soup from an airtight thermos. However, Zayn still felt a rock pressing on his heart. He could not help but yell at Quentin, “Then what are you still doing there?! Get back here now!”

"So how is it?" Lindsey winked at Yvette suggestively.

"Lindsey..." Yvette was blushing because Lindsey was looking at her like that. "Nothing. I just apologized to him and he said it's okay. He said he had done a lot of things wrong and hurt me a lot before, then asked me to forgive him."

As Yvette said this, her smile collapsed and continued, "I don’t want to lie to you, nor do I want to lie to myself. I still care about him, but...but..."

"I know. Are you afraid that you’ll fail again after giving him another chance?" Lindsey softly asked. Her tone was inexplicably soothing.

Yvette had nothing to hide with Lindsey and nodded. "Mm."

"How would you know if you don't try?" Lindsey stared at Yvette’s eyes. "My brother is a great person. If you miss out on this chance, do you think you'll be able to meet someone else and like him just as much?"

Without Lindsey asking this, Yvette already had the answer to this question a long time ago.

The first time she cried her heart out for a man, she knew that she would never love someone like this again in her lifetime.

However, that pain was tearing at her heart and breaking her bones. It made her scared to try again.

"Actually, I think we’re fine the way we are right now." Yvette bit her lips and continued, “I like him, look up to him, and chase him for so long that I have no regrets because I tried. I’ve been giving him the cold shoulder and ignoring my feelings. I’ve never thought of being at peace with my failure and immaturity. Perhaps I should just be friends with him first."
