When Lindsey and Dezi got down from the cab, it was already after 10:00 pm. It was summer, so it was not cold at night.
"Dezi, do you like Uncle Shaun very much?" Lindsey took Dezi’s hand and walked towards their apartment block. The little boy did not respond. Usually, when Lindsey asked him a question, he would give her a little response like scratching her palm or tugging on it.
Lindsey lowered her head to look at him but found that Dezi kept turning his head to look in one direction.
She followed his gaze, but there was nothing, so she asked suspiciously, "What are you looking at?"
Dezi turned his head back probably because he did not see whatever he was looking at anymore. When he heard Lindsey’s question, he was puzzled and shook his head.
Lindsey’s mind was already drawing ridiculous conclusions. She heard that children could see wandering spirits, but she did not know how true it was. When she thought of this, she broke out in cold sweat and picked Dezi up. “It’s alright. That’s all fake.” Even so, she still speed-walked back home.
Her heart only settled down after she got into the house.
Dezi did not know why Lindsey was panicking like this. He only thought that the person looked like Daddy...
Lindsey had already told Mrs. Wendy that Shaun had gotten into an accident and that she would be at the hospital until it was late. When she returned, Mrs. Wendy was waiting for them in the living room. She saw Lindsey and immediately greeted her. "Is Mr. Juhl alright?"
"It's not serious." Lindsey knew Mrs. Wendy was also worried, so she did not say anything specific and told her a brief story.
Mrs. Wendy sighed and felt more at ease. She muttered something about how young people nowadays drove crazily without regard for their lives and others.
Lindsey then thought of what Callum said on the phone this afternoon. From what he said, someone deliberately tried to harm Yvette, but she was saved by Shaun, who was also present at the time.
She thought that even though Yvette was a lot more mature now, she was still quite stubborn at times. Lindsey was a little worried, but soon, she did not think much about it because she had to tend to Dezi.
Downstairs in the shadows.
Zayn watched as Lindsey carried Dezi and walked quickly into the elevator as if something was chasing her. He suddenly felt a little suffocated. Earlier, Lindsey’s question to Dezi kept echoing in his ears over and over again.
‘So what if Dezi liked Shaun? So what if he didn’t? Do you want him to be Dezi's father?’
This woman was clearly out of her mind.
The two of them did not see each other for many days and Zayn's satisfaction of seeing Lindsey up close again did not last long before Lindsey smothered it with these words.
In addition, before Lindsey got back, Zayn had received a call that made his blood boil.
The phone call was from Callum Wendell.
As soon as Zayn picked up, he heard Callum's trademark sly voice. "Mr. Guggenheim..."
The President obviously had deep feelings for his wife, but why was he still involved in scandals with that S.P. Corporation President? He really did not know what Zayn was thinking by making such a fuss.
Clearly, the driver would not know what Zayn was up to because even Zayn’s closest confidants were clueless.
Lindsey only found out about Zayn’s scandal the next day. It was not just a scandal, but there was also news about their divorce.
She received this push notification on her phone about the news. Lindsey took a deep breath and still could not resist clicking on it.
Seeing Lindsey trembling with anger, Mrs. Wendy said, “Don’t look at it. There’s nothing to look at. The news nowadays likes to exaggerate. It’s not at all like they say. It must’ve been a business meeting."
Lindsey read until the end. Only then did she turn it off. She looked normal, except that her lips were a bit pale. "Did you know about it yesterday?"
This was yesterday's news. It first stated that Lindsey and Zayn were divorced, then there were photos of Zayn and Ann on a date. It seemed that Zayn booked the whole restaurant and the two of them were embracing sweetly as they looked at each other affectionately. In the end, Zayn sent Ann home and there was nothing after that. However, with the gossip stopping here, it was enough to attract curious minds.
They were all adults, so what else could happen if Zayn sent Ann home?
Mrs. Wendy nodded with difficulty under Lindsey's gaze.
"Alright, I'm fine." Lindsey forced out a smile. "We got divorced anyway. That's a fact. Whoever Zayn wants to be with is his right and it has nothing to do with me anymore."
