The girl in front of Shaun reminded him of Lindsey many years ago. Lindsey had a stubbornness under her eyes, but an imperceptible vulnerability exuding from her body. She was trying very hard to conceal it, but she could not hide it very well.
Shaun had also stayed up all night yesterday. He went to look for Zayn, but Zayn did not see him.
He wanted to tell Lindsey not to worry and that this feeling would pass, but the way things looked at the moment, Shaun could not bring himself to say or ask anything. Being there for her when she needed help was perhaps the only thing Lindsey wanted.
"Brother, you should also consider starting a family. You shouldn’t always be preoccupied with work." Lindsey did not say a word about the divorce yesterday. She only spoke after they were almost done eating.
Shaun carefully peeled a shrimp for Dezi and put it on the small plate in front of him. He then wiped his fingers elegantly and smiled bitterly. "It’s not that easy."
"It's you who's not being bold enough." Lindsey teased him.
Lindsey only casually mentioned this. She was not too sure about Shaun’s relationship either, so she could not say too much.
When they talked about relationships, Shaun and Lindsey were both dispirited. After Dezi was done eating, Shaun put him down from the high chair and let him play on his own. Shaun then asked Lindsey what she wanted to discuss.
"I wanna move back to Opal Suites. Aunt Wendy, Dezi, and I can stay there perfectly fine."
Before she finished speaking, Shaun's brow gently wrinkled. After listening to Lindsey, Shaun's hands interlaced together, which was a gesture that he was about to have a long conversation with her. "You’re staying here just fine and Dezi has just adapted to this environment. What's the point of moving back there?"
"I'm used to that place." Lindsey already knew that Shaun would try to retain them, so she was prepared. "It won’t be convenient if we keep living here. We came here previously because there were too many of us. Now that there are only three of us left, it’ll be more comfortable in the apartment."
"Are you not comfortable here?" Shaun looked at her disapprovingly. "The security here is much better than over there. You and Dezi were in danger several times before. What if something happens to you and you don't have anyone to protect you over there?"
Lindsey had also considered this issue, but she had already made up her mind to move there, so Shaun's words could not convince her at all.
"Nothing will happen. You’re all overreacting. Before this, we might be in danger, but now, we won’t be," Lindsey said as she shrugged her shoulders and lowered her head, hiding the slight change of emotion under her eyes.
Shaun understood what she meant, but it was always better to be safe than sorry. "Now you have a kid and just got divorced. Since your child called me Uncle, this is your home. I don’t agree with you moving."
Lindsey let out a bitter laugh. "Brother, it’s not appropriate."
Shaun really could not understand her insistence on moving out. His brows were tightly knitted. "What's so inappropriate about this?"
"There are already so many scandals about the two of us. If this continues, when will you be able to get a wife?" Lindsey said jokingly, then she turned serious. "It’s too big here, so I feel isolated when I live here."
Before, Sieben was running around every day like a little bee. She was so energetic and brought them a lot of joy, but now she was also gone.
Lindsey was very busy then and had so much expectation before that she did not feel anything.
Now, her heart suddenly felt empty, like there was a huge hole inside. It was completely barren and desolate.
"It's just a coincidence," Shaun reassured her. "But it may take a long time for Denarius' finances to return to its previous condition. After all, this blow was almost fatal to them."
"Well, it doesn't really matter to me anymore." Lindsey forced a smile.
Seeing that she was not in a good mood, Shaun tacitly changed the topic and did not talk about Zayn again. The two talked for a while longer before Shaun left.
After sending Shaun away, Lindsey talked to Dezi about moving before going to bed at night and asked him for his opinion. Knowing that Dezi did not reject the idea and was even excited, Lindsey put away her last bit of concern.
Moving was not a problem for them. Lindsey spent the morning packing her luggage. In the afternoon, Shaun sent her and Mrs. Wendy to Opal Suites.
Since it was not too far away, Dezi did not need to transfer schools. He just needed to be picked up after school in the evening.
As usual, Shaun picked Dezi up from school in the evening and sent him over.
When Dezi arrived at the new environment, he kept surveying his surroundings. Lindsey pulled him to the door of a bedroom connected to the master bedroom. She pointed to the room that had just been decorated and said, "This is your room from now on. Dezi’s already a big boy and shouldn't sleep with Mommy anymore."
The excitement on Dezi’s face collapsed at once. Dezi lifted his head and looked at Lindsey with his big watery eyes.
"No, you must learn to sleep alone." Lindsey rejected him without even thinking about it.
