Shaun looked a little helpless. He did not know what he looked like, but he knew that it certainly was not good.
Seeing Lindsey laughing so happily at his misery, Shaun thought it was a little funny and pursed his lips.
"Was it Callum who beat you up?" Lindsey guessed. She was actually quite certain of it.
The only person who could make Shaun willingly take a beating and not fight back was probably Callum Wendell. Shaun just nodded helplessly.
Lindsey’s smile faded as she pushed the bowl of chicken soup away from her. "Is Yvette okay?"
"Yeah, she’s fine." Shaun did not want Lindsey to worry. "Her injuries aren’t as serious as yours. Don't worry."
Lindsey nodded and thought of something else. "By the way, who are those people and why do they want to harm me and Dezi?"
Shaun pondered for a moment and looked very remorseful. "It’s all my fault. The people protecting you were waiting outside the mall when they received your message, not realizing that this was someone’s ploy."
Lindsey did not think of this. No wonder the bodyguards who were supposed to go to the parking lot in advance were missing and did not react to such a big commotion.
Shaun continued as he glanced at Sieben, "The other side has a total of three people. The surveillance cameras in the parking lot were destroyed, so it didn’t capture anything useful. Those people are injured...very seriously. The police haven't gathered any useful clues yet, so we can only wait for them to wake up."
Lindsey also looked at Sieben, who was chewing happily on a big red apple while watching cartoons on a tablet. She was completely different from how she looked when she was in the parking lot.
Dezi was still asleep and it was already dark outside. Shaun wanted to take Sieben back home, but Sieben did not want to leave Lindsey, so he got the nurse to add an extra bed to the ward. After settling them down and sending a maid over to take care of Lindsey during the night, Shaun could finally feel at ease and left.
Once Shaun was gone, Lindsey's strength faded away in an instant.
She was lying on her side and the lights in the ward were turned off. Lindsey's hand was on the back of Dezi's head, but Zayn's face kept appearing in her mind - his smile, tenderness, restraint, and indifference...
Divorce. If it was two years ago, Lindsey would have thought that divorce would be for the best.
However, after going through so much together and confirming Zayn's feelings for her, as well as sharing such a lovely child, divorce was like a great mockery to them.
Lindsey stayed in the hospital for two weeks. During this time, Dezi also stayed with her in the hospital. Due to the successive accidents, Dezi’s safety had been bugging Lindsey's mind and she just wanted him to be in front of her at all times.
During this period, Shaun and Quentin would usually visit them at the hospital every day, but Zayn did not show up once.
"Madam, the doctor said you can be discharged tomorrow. I’ll help you with the discharge procedures and send you back. As for the Young Master’s school, the transfer procedures have also been completed. The school is located near Jade Garden. It’s just a 300-meter walk and has greater privacy and enhanced security. When you’re discharged from the hospital, the Young Master can start going to school again."
Quentin recited this like he was reading a script. After he was done, he contemplated for a moment and put the file he hid behind his back in front of Lindsey.
"The President asked me to give this to you. He...he said..."
Even though Quentin was not sure what Zayn was up to, when Lindsey got into an accident that day, Zayn's murderous gaze was still fresh in his mind.
Anyone with a brain could tell how much Zayn cared for Lindsey, but Zayn was still dead set on getting a divorce.
Quentin did not say too much. After all, this was their marriage.
As for the woman in the photo, Zayn had been communicating with S.P. Corporation lately. This S.P. Corporation’s President would also frequently ask Zayn out for business and sometimes in private. Eight times out of ten, Zayn would not attend, so Quentin was not sure how these pictures got leaked.
Quentin saw that Lindsey was obviously furious. He rubbed the tip of his nose and said apprehensively, "Then Madam, if there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first."
"Don't call me Madam." All of Lindsey’s suppressed anger from this morning was transferred to these words, so it was quite frightening.
Quentin came out of the ward patting his chest and bumped into Shaun, who was about to go into the ward.
When Shaun saw him, it was like seeing Zayn. He glared at Quentin aggressively. Quentin was baffled and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Tell Zayn to come over. I don't care what he’s trying to do. He better get his *ss over here!" Shaun's face was glum and tense. He probably saw that news too.
Quentin just wanted to scream in his heart. He did not have the guts to retort Lindsey, but with Shaun, it was less of a burden. He said helplessly, "The President won't listen to me either..."
