Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 421

There were several times that Lindsey would secretly cry alone late at night after putting Dezi to bed.

Lindsey was never really a strong person.

However, no matter how vulnerable she felt, Lindsey still looked invincible in front of people.

At the same time, rumors about her and Shaun were getting more rampant.

Someone caught Shaun leaving the party with Lindsey in his arms and made a big deal out of it. They even said that Lindsey was already planning to divorce Zayn and move in with Shaun. Their rumors were very imaginative.

Shaun got someone to suppress the news because he was afraid that it would leave a bad impact on Lindsey. However, the rumors did not stop and only got worse.

In the morning, Lindsey just got downstairs when Mrs. Wendy said, "Madam, Quentin came over early. He’s waiting for you in the living room."

"Quentin’s here?" Lindsey raised her eyebrows. Quentin had been traveling all over the world during this period because the operations of their subsidiaries were greatly affected after the seizure of Denarius’ assets. Thus, he was needed at a lot of places.

"He's been here for a while." Mrs. Wendy gave Lindsey a cup of tea and looked at her with some concern. "Madam, did you not sleep well again last night?"

Noticing Mrs. Wendy's concern, Lindsey drank the tea and smiled faintly. "I slept a little late. I'm fine."

Lindsey recollected the tiredness on her face. She rubbed her brow and looked down at the clothes she was wearing. After seeing that she looked decent, she walked towards the living room.

Quentin lowered his head to look at his watch. He seemed a bit anxious. In just half a month, he looked very haggard. His eyes were sunken in and his customary smile had faded.

When he saw Lindsey, he stood up at once. "Madam."

Lindsey nodded and gestured for him to sit down. "Did something happen again?"

She was calm when she asked. After all, during this period, Denarius had been encountering all sorts of problems daily.

Quentin reached out and pushed his glasses up. "No, I'm here because I want to discuss something with you."

He rarely spoke to Lindsey in such a solemn tone, so Lindsey was a little stunned. She folded her arms and sat up straight as she looked at him with a little doubt. "What is it?"

Quentin touched his nose and said, “Mr. Zurek said that he can only think of a solution when the police convicts the President. When I was in Baltimore, I met a lawyer that had just taken a white-collar crime case that was very similar to ours. He won the case, so I hired him."

Lindsey's eyes lit up abruptly. "Really? Where is the lawyer now?"

During this period, they did not give up pleading with the police, but so far, there was no progress.

When Quentin saw the excitement in Lindsey’s eyes, he gestured for her to calm down. "Mr. Owen is from Germany. He has some other things to do in Atlantic City. I’ve made an appointment with him tomorrow morning, so I came to talk to you first."

Lindsey was at a loss for words because having a glimmer of hope was a miracle for her now. Due to her previous experience, although she was excited, she did not dare to have too much expectation.

The guard heard her words and smiled, "You came just in time! Chief Jipson just got back."

This was a bit of a surprise to Lindsey. She was excited and quickly walked in after thanking him.

There were a lot of people at the police station, so Lindsey did not ask anyone for directions and went straight to the Chief's Office.

Felipe Jipson was on a call when Lindsey barged into his office without knocking. He even looked a little dumbfounded for a moment.

He was well-mannered and did not get angry, but he glanced at Lindsey rather coldly. He gestured for her to take a seat and said in a low voice to the phone, "Just do as I say and report back to me if anything comes up."

After Felipe hung up, Lindsey walked forward and stood in front of his desk. “Chief Jipson, I have something I’d like to ask you.”

Felipe looked at her with raised eyebrows, gesturing for her to continue.

Lindsey took a deep breath and said, "How can you work so slow? It's been half a month, yet you still haven't given us an explanation. Zayn and Denarius did not commit a crime. I believe the evidence you got is enough to explain everything, so why aren’t you releasing him?"

"Mrs. Guggenheim, how are you so sure that Zayn and Denarius did not commit a crime?" Felipe's voice was faint as he asked Lindsey.

Lindsey looked him straight in the eye. "He didn’t. Every single one of your accusations against Zayn is because someone is framing him."
