Lindsey Juhl took a look around the office. Although everyone still looked as if they were immersed in their work, their eyes would glance in Lindsey’s direction from time to time.
More accurately, they were glancing at Zayn Guggenheim.
"What are you doing here?" Lindsey lowered her voice as she did not want to draw too much attention to herself. Zayn’s presence was just creating more trouble for her.
"I came to see you," said Zayn casually.
He leaned on the partition at Lindsey’s desk and spoke loudly, without caring about the curious gaze of others around them.
"Did I ask you to come? Hurry up and leave!" Lindsey was exasperated.
There were whispers around them. Even though the President of Denarius Corporation rarely appeared in public, that did not mean that no one knew about him. Moreover, with Zayn’s good looks and aura, he was the focal point wherever he went.
"I just came to see if Mrs. Guggenheim is cheating behind my back."
Zayn said this in a voice in which only the two of them could hear, but the words he said were very unpleasant.
Lindsey could not understand why Zayn had such a charming voice, but the words that came out of his mouth were always so harsh. Also, this harshness was seeming to be aimed at her only.
The two of them were extremely close to each other. Lindsey could hear the coldness of his tone that made her gasped, so she fiercely pushed him away.
"I need to work. Please stop bothering me." Fearing that others would spread more gossip about her, she did not even dare to address Zayn by his name.
"Fine." Zayn agreed very quickly this time. He swept a glance around the office and saw all those pairs of prying eyes retracting instantly. He then turned around and walked out of the consulting department.
Lindsey breathed a sigh of relief and did not care about everyone’s gazes. She just studied the document in her hands intently, and soon, it was their lunch break.
The office had long been empty, so Shaun Juhl came down and knocked on Lindsey's desk.
"It’s lunchtime."
"Big brother, why did you come here? I'll have lunch after I’m done with this report."
Shaun pulled Lindsey up and said, "No, let’s eat now, otherwise, you’ll get hungry."
The office was empty, but Lindsey still pulled her hand away.
"Big brother, others might see us."
Shaun laughed and said, "Why are you always sneaking around? I'm your big brother, so even if others see it, just admit it. There’s nothing to be afraid of!"
‘Even though you're not afraid, I am!’ Lindsey was in a pickle.
She touched her stomach and was indeed feeling a little hungry, so she packed up her things and got up.
“Hmm...if you insist, I'll just have lunch with you today. Let’s go!”
Shaun laughed then stroked her head.
"Stop fooling around."
Shaun took Lindsey somewhere further away from the office for lunch. Unexpectedly, the two of them saw Zayn and Jenny Lenig once they entered the restaurant.
"Zayn, why did you come over here for lunch today? You weren't at the office all morning and I heard that you went to Hemera Corporation today. What kind of deal was it that it took you so long?"
Jenny had gone over to the President's office in the morning and could not find him, only to find out that Zayn had gone to Hemera. Thinking that Lindsey was working at Hemera, Jenny quickly contacted Zayn's assistant and found out that he was dining here at noon, so she immediately rushed over.
"It's nothing," Zayn said after he swallowed a mouthful of food.
"Zayn, what's wrong with you lately? Why are you always so cold to me?" Jenny sat across from him and took in the coldness on his face.
"Jenny, I thought I made it very clear last time." Zayn squeezed what little patience he had left in saying that.
