Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 393

Callum Wendell quickly shouted, "Wait, wait, wait! I still have something to tell you."

Zayn did not care and said, "We'll talk tomorrow."

It was already evening at Callum’s side, but it was midnight in Germany.

Callum did not fool around and got to the point. "Zayn, you'd better come back to the States when you can."

He was just scolding Shaun a second ago and his voice suddenly became serious. However, Zayn did not find it strange. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I’m sure you already know about it." Callum's voice was quite serious as he continued, "During this period, there’s an unknown source of foreign funds flowing into the States. This doesn’t only impact the Guggenheim Corporation, but also many companies in Atlantic City. As the market leader, Guggenheim Corporation will certainly bear the brunt of it. Also, recently there’s an S.P. Multinational Corporation that has been acquiring several companies on the down-low."

When Zayn heard that the Guggenheim empire might be at stake, his voice remained light. "What about this company?"

Callum took a breath as he thought about how to say it. After a moment he continued, "The companies that S.P. acquired are in the same industry as several of the best-performing subsidiaries under your company. I’m sure Soren must have given you more detailed information about it. If it was just one company, it could be accidental, but every single one of them is like this, so it’s starting to look very suspicious. Also, while you’re not here during this period, your company has been pressured from multiple aspects. This is no longer a secret in the industry."

Zayn’s eyes became a little dark, but he was also a little puzzled. "Aren’t you always thinking about profit? If my company falls, shouldn’t you be the first to grab a piece of the pie?"

Callum sounded nonchalant as he replied, "That’s if your company falls. I just want to earn enough for my sister's wedding. I don’t want it to backfire."

Zayn did not get mad and laughed instead. "You’re just scared."

After Callum finished talking about business, he remembered his sister. "Help me to warn that punk Shaun Juhl to stay away from my sister!"

Actually, when they found out that Yvette was with Shaun, they were no longer worried. Zayn did not even care because it had nothing to do with him.

Callum knew that Shaun was a good person although he was reluctant to admit it. The fact was that Yvette had been chasing after Shaun for so long, but Shaun was not interested in her, so he knew nothing would happen between them.

However, this time, they all guessed wrong.

The next day, Zayn had some things to do at the office, but Lindsey had a therapy session scheduled for that day and Zayn was still worried about her. Before he went out, he purposely left Soren behind to watch over them so he could feel at ease.

Lindsey was playing with Dezi and Sieben in the garden. When she was there, Dezi would be a little more lively and would not reject Sieben’s initiatives. Occasionally, he would also take the initiative to play with Sieben, which made Sieben scream in excitement all morning.

"Madam, Mr. Juhl is here to see you and Young Master."

Lindsey lifted her head with a smile. "Invite him over quickly."

Shaun walked a bit hurriedly and his face was a little glum.

"Brother, what's wrong?" Lindsey stood up and looked at him with some surprise.

He rubbed his brow. Shaun's good mood when he woke up disappeared. "Yvette and I have some misunderstanding. I might go home in the next two days, so I won't have time to come over to see you and Dezi. You guys take care."

Lindsey was a bit surprised. Shaun made this decision in a hurry. "You’re going back? Is there something urgent?"

Shaun nodded and let out a soft "mm" before he added, "Yvette went back and I have something to say to her. I'm almost done with things over here, so it's also time to go back."

Lindsey sighed and wanted to go home as well. Shaun patted her shoulder. Before he left, he suddenly thought of something. "Linds."

"Hmm?" Lindsey was coaxing Dezi to wave goodbye to Shaun. When she heard him call her name, she subconsciously lifted her head and found that Shaun's expression was a bit strange.

"Brother." Lindsey became a little uneasy. "What's wrong?"

Shaun fished out a cigarette from out of nowhere. He did not light it and only held it between his fingers. Lindsey recalled that Shaun never used to smoke.

He looked like he needed to say something that had been bothering him for the longest time. “I’m sure you know that the last time you were in Atlantic City, when we were both injured in the funeral home, it was Allie Wilford who planned it."

Lindsey was a bit stunned. The smile on her face also faded. That was her nightmare and she did not want to think about it. Somehow, Shaun brought it up out of the blue.

"Mm. Brother, at that time, you got seriously injured because of me. It’s all my fault." Lindsey lowered her head and hid the self-blame under her eyes, but her tightly clenched fingers revealed her emotions.
