Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 380

Yesterday afternoon, it was indeed as Lindsey told Zayn. She just wanted to walk through the park so that she would not be found so quickly.

While passing by the lake in the center of the park, she suddenly saw a pair of eyes from behind the bushes.

The gaze was so pure. At a glance, she could tell it was a child's gaze. The boy looked out timidly. When he met Lindsey’s gaze, he jerked back.

Lindsey suddenly came to a halt.

The weather was quite cool and there were not many people in the park at this time of day.

Lindsey slowly approached the boy only to find that part of the fence at the lake was broken and simply wrapped with wire. A smaller child could easily fit through the gap.

"What are you doing there?" Lindsey asked in a small, gentle voice.

The pair of eyes hiding behind the shrubs gently peeked out again, but, as with the first time, he quickly retracted.

"It's dangerous over there. I'll pull you out, okay?" Lindsey asked again.

She slowly approached. The closer she got, the clearer she could see that the person hiding was indeed a small child. His body was very dirty and she could only see his bright eyes that were big and round. He was like a small animal that was very alert.

He looked to be just about three years old. He was thin and small and was stuck in the bushes like he was trying to hide, yet he was curious and carefully poked out his head to see the outside world.

"It's really dangerous over there!" Lindsey persistently persuaded him. "Come out first. I’ll pull you. It’ll be quick. If you keep hiding there, your family will be worried when they can’t find you."

She did not notice that the little person behind the bush cowered a little when she mentioned his family.

Lindsey coaxed while she measured the wire wrapped around the two fences, trying to see if she could get through.

The gap between the wires was extremely narrow, but the two wires look quite thin and not very solid. Lindsey tried to reach out and tug it, widening the gap in the middle.

The pair of eyes peeked at her again. Lindsey smiled gently at him. "I'll try to see if I can get through. It's too dangerous for you to walk here alone."

She picked up a stone from the side and gently smashed it on the wire a few times, but it did not budge. Lindsey then stepped on it and flipped over to the other side.

When the boy saw that she easily came through, he was scared and kept retreating while glaring at her viciously.

Lindsey froze. “Don’t move! It’s dangerous!”

Unfortunately, it was too late. Just as she said that, she saw the little one step into the mud at the edge of the lake and he fell to the ground.

"Don't move!" Lindsey's heart almost leaped to her throat. "Don't move...don't move…."

She gulped and was extremely nervous.

The child was very well behaved and did not move as he was probably scared himself. Lindsey had no idea how the kid got here.

Lindsey carefully leaned over, the small patch of mud was half underwater. She was so careful, but her foot accidentally sunk in.

When she finally got out of here, Lindsey stood up with both hands holding the little one on her back. She let out a long breath and ignored the dirt on her body. She then turned to the little guy behind her. "How are you? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

The person on her back did not respond, but Lindsey was not discouraged. She put him through the opening in the middle of the fence and jumped out herself after a few tries.

She thought that the kid would run away, but when she leaped over, she found that he was still waiting for her in the same place. He did not move and just looked at her with his big round eyes.

It was already dark and the two were so dirty that Lindsey simply picked the kid up and asked softly, "Where do you live? Why are you here alone?"

She had forgotten why she appeared in this park in the first place and what she was supposed to do. At this moment, her attention was all on the dirty child in front of her.

However, this child did not say a word.

Lindsey did not know what to do, so she simply carried him to the stone bench in the park. She was still not in great health, so she needed to rest.

As she walked, she asked, "Where do you live? Auntie will send you home. It's late, so you shouldn’t be outside alone."

When she said the words, "send you home", the little person in her arms suddenly reached out and hugged her neck.

Lindsey was stunned and asked carefully, "Don't you want to go home?"

The little kid in her arms still did not say anything, but the hand around her neck tightened. Lindsey somehow understood his meaning.

She gently patted his back. Her heart melted into a mess and whispered, "Then we won't go home. Auntie will take you to my house today."
