Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 363

Zayn locked the car door and pulled Lindsey within his reach before he felt completely relieved.

He locked his eyes on Lindsey and said, "Tell me, why did you sneak out by yourself?"

"I didn't sneak out." Lindsey rebutted.

She glanced at Zayn, then lowered her head again and asked in a whisper, "Can we go over there?"

Lindsey was referring to the other side of the road.

Zayn had already noticed her gaze earlier. She looked in that direction like there was something extremely important. He then thought about how she seemed to be looking for something back in the hospital garden. Zayn asked patiently, “What’s over there?”

Lindsey pursed her lips and there was a small light in her eyes. "I just wanted to come out for a walk, but I heard him calling me from there."

Zayn looked into Lindsey's eyes and his chest ached inexplicably. "Who?"

"Our baby." Lindsey’s eyes were wide open and said these words very naturally.

Zayn closed his eyes tightly and suppressed the anguish to the deepest depths of his heart. He held Lindsey’s hands and said word by word, “You’ve misheard.”

"I didn't." Lindsey frowned and shook off his hand. "It's true, I think our baby is still there. He's really calling me. Zayn, please just go with me to take a look. He must also want to see his father very much."

Zayn froze for a while. In the end, he grabbed her shoulders and leaned in to kiss her forehead. “You’ve misheard it. Let’s go home.”

Lindsey was clearly doing fine and getting better. She had not mentioned the baby over the past few days, so Zayn thought she was getting over it, but everything was just an illusion.

The wound in Lindsey's heart was far deeper than Zayn had imagined.

"No!" Lindsey looked vexed. "Why don't you believe me?"

Her eyes were full of sadness, anger, frustration, and grievance.

"Zayn, I wanna take a look." Lindsey was on the verge of crying.

Zayn could not bear to refuse her with such eyes, so in the end, he helped Lindsey to fasten her seatbelt and drove her across the road.

The two of them got out of the car one after the other. Zayn held Lindsey’s hand, which was thin and small, but it was still soft and reassuring.

Lindsey walked back and forth a few times and finally looked at Zayn with a sad face. "He's gone."

"Where did he go?" Zayn tucked her hair behind her ears and somehow asked this question.

Lindsey shook her head. "I don't know. He didn't say, but he’ll definitely come back. I miss him so much, so he must also miss me and will come back to spend more time with us."

Zayn took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, but the weight in his chest was not the slightest bit relieved.

"Let’s go home. We’ll talk about it at home." Zayn put Lindsey on the passenger seat and got in the driver's seat himself.

Lindsey was obviously too devastated by the death of her child and was mentally unstable.

Zayn sent the doctor out and rubbed his face vigorously.

Everything was over, but it seemed like they could not close this chapter as a shadow was still hanging over them and they did not know when it would dissipate.

"Sir." The servant's voice rang in Zayn’s ears. "Mr. Soren wants to see you."

Zayn blinked and sat up. "Let him in. By the way, didn't I tell you before that you can let Soren in whenever he wants to see me?"

Back in the Guggenheim mansion, Quentin and Soren could come and go as they pleased.

The servant lowered his head. "Yes, sir."

A few moments later, Soren walked in and nodded at Zayn. "President!"

"Sit." Zayn nodded back.

After Soren took a seat, Zayn was in no hurry to ask why he was here. Soren first placed a stack of documents in front of Zayn. "These are the documents that need your signature."

"Mm. Put it aside." Zayn casually swept a glance at the pile. "Sorry to trouble you lately."

Soren shook his head and pulled a rare joke with Zayn. "Next time, I’ll definitely take a longer vacation than that punk Quentin."

Zayn hooked his lips at his words and felt more relaxed. "Seems like a reasonable request. I approve on behalf of our big boss."
