In fact, no matter what the final result the scouts brought back, Zayn was prepared to go out tonight.
If they succeeded, it meant that the person inside was who Zayn was looking for, so Zayn would have to go there personally no matter what. If they failed and alarmed the enemy, then Liam Wilford would certainly take the appropriate measures and Zayn would need to make this trip.
Of course, although they drew a bad card, Zayn thought that it was not all bad. The fact that Liam brought her out gave Zayn the confidence that he could find Liam’s weakness. It was better than Liam keeping her in that hideout.
Zayn’s complicated plans surfaced in his mind again. There was a faint sound of the car starting up and driving towards the edge of the city in the darkness.
......
In less than 24 hours, Liam Wilford had set foot in the villa again for the second time. He first hurried upstairs and went to Sophie's room to take a look. After he found her on the bed sound asleep, his heart finally settled down.
"Sophie...Sophie...wake up." Liam gently woke her up.
Sophie had just fallen asleep. She heard Liam's voice in a daze and opened her eyes. She saw the man with bloodshot eyes looking very haggard and anxious.
The displeasure of being awakened from her sleep instantly dissipated. Sophie sat up and cupped Liam's face. "What's wrong? Why did you come over so late?"
Liam did not answer her question. Instead, he wrapped the jacket he held in his hand at some point over Sophie tightly and carried her.
His jaw was tense. He gently kissed Sophie on the forehead. "We need to change locations. Sorry to trouble you. You can get some sleep in the car later, okay?"
Liam probably used up all the tenderness and patience in his life on Sophie, that was why he was always so irritable and gloomy with others.
Sophie did not ask why because she knew he would not answer her anyway. She hugged Liam tighter and said, "I slept a lot today, so I’m actually not that sleepy. You should wake Allie so we can go together."
Hearing Sophie mention Allie, the anger in Liam's eyes had not dissipated. "She’s not going with you. I’ll send her to my parents. Let's go."
With that, Liam picked Sophie up and pulled her small head to his chest. He then turned around and went downstairs.
Allie was woken up by the maid to get into another car. She looked at the tightly wrapped Sophie who was carried by Liam and closed her car window.
Sophie did not notice Allie, but Liam saw it clearly. His eyes glanced at Allie as a warning, but he did not stop walking. He put Sophie into the car and sat inside after her.
The two convoys left the villa, but at the intersection, each convoy drove in different directions.
......
Lindsey was trapped inside this small two-story building. Logically speaking, Liam Wilford should have immediately arranged her surgery.
However, two days passed. Aside from the old maid and the few bodyguards who would give her stern looks of warning when Lindsey seemed like she wanted to escape, she did not see any doctors or nurses around.
After dinner, the old lady went upstairs, as usual, to remind Lindsey to rest early. Before she opened the door, she heard a loud cry of pain coming from inside.
The door was left open. Lindsey looked at the old lady whose hair was disheveled and whose face looked a bit unsightly pushed the door open. Her old legs trembled as she held Lindsey up and looked as though she would prostrate herself to the ground at any moment.
Lindsey's face was covered with sweat as she covered her stomach with both hands and curled herself into a ball. This obviously did not make her more comfortable as she let out a soft whimper, signaling her discomfort.
"What's wrong?" The old lady asked worriedly as she tried to help Lindsey up. "Does your stomach hurt? Can you still talk?"
Lindsey shivered and was assisted to lie on the bed. Her tears were falling from the corners of her eyes. "It hurts! My baby...I need a doctor. Please, help me. Get a doctor, please!"
There was a weird pungent smell coming from the mug. Lindsey looked at the mug that was at her lips. It was a cup of unknown black liquid.
Seeing her hesitation, the old lady explained, "This is just molasses in warm water. Drink a little first. The doctor will be here soon."
It turned out to be molasses. Lindsey took a small sip and it was surprisingly good. The drink was a bit hot, but it felt warm in her stomach.
Lindsey drank half a cup in one go. Her body was actually fine and she instantly felt warm.
The cold sweat on her forehead that she faked earlier broke out even more due to the steaming hot water. It also made her face look more pinkish.
Lindsey laid back down. She suddenly thought of Mrs. Wendy and the time she spent in the Guggenheim mansion. She wondered if she would ever have the chance to go back.
However, it was not the time to wander off and think about this. She clutched the corner of the quilt and looked nervous, "When is the doctor coming?"
"There's a doctor in the nearby village. He'll be here soon. Don't be afraid."
The old lady's gloomy face probably wanted to squeeze out a reassuring expression, but after trying for a long time without any success, she just moved awkwardly to pull the quilt over Lindsey’s body.
When Lindsey heard her words, she was first filled with joy, then somehow felt a little guilty for lying to such an old lady.
Lindsey did not want to look into the old lady’s eyes and pretended to close her eyes from the pain. About ten minutes later, there was a knock on the front door.
The old lady got up to open the door downstairs and Lindsey was in a somewhat apprehensive mood as she waited for the doctor to come upstairs.
