Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 249

‘Perhaps Yvette had already gotten on the plane.’ Shaun thought, but his heart was uneasy.

Shaun had his hands on the steering wheel. He was exhausted and did not want to go to the hospital for his injuries. He just wanted to rush home to get a good night's sleep.

The road was empty late at night with only a few vehicles coming and going that showed the vibrancy of the world.

Shaun thought about going back and transferring a sum of money to Yvette, but she might not want it. He then carefully thought about whether he had any close friends or classmates at the school where Yvette had enrolled so that he could ask them to take care of her.

He thought about it again and thought that a female friend would be more reliable because this girl was too attractive and could sometimes be a little silly. What if the guy had bad intentions?

Shaun thought it through carefully and thought that Yvette would need accommodation as well. This time, Callum had made up his mind to cut Yvette off so that she could suffer a little. Since Shaun knew about it, he could not just neglect her.

Various thoughts flashed by in his mind and Shaun felt inexplicably annoyed.

On the way back to the Guggenheim mansion, Zayn had called the family doctor. He then checked Lindsey's body carefully and found no wounds, so he felt more relieved.

Lindsey lost all her strength. Zayn carried her, so she could hear the man’s heartbeat by her ear. She focused on it for a while and said softly, “Zayn, I was so scared earlier, but when I saw you, I don’t feel scared anymore.”

"Mm." Zayn reached out and held her head up. Their noses were almost touching each other. "Sorry, I'm late."

"You’re not." Lindsey buried her head in the nook of his neck, carefully taking in the man's scent and also hiding her reddened eyes.

Lindsey’s forehead was pressed against Zayn's neck, so he could feel her body temperature. Zayn pulled Lindsey away and lifted his hand to touch her forehead. He then touched Lindsey's back.

Her exposed skin might have felt cold earlier, so he did not feel anything abnormal, but her forehead and waist were scalding hot.

"D*mn it!" Zayn let out a low curse and hugged her tighter. He then shouted to the driver in front, "Drive faster!"

The black car flew through the night.

No one said anything for a while. The driver accidentally pressed the radio button, which started to play the news. The soothing voice of the announcer spoke fast to report a flight accident. "At 2:10 am, a commercial flight flying from Atlantic City International Airport to London had lost contact with the air traffic control tower due to extreme weather over the Atlantic Ocean. Relevant personnel are carrying out..."

"Another accident..." The driver sighed, then turned off the radio and apologized to Zayn. "Young Master, Young Madam, sorry to disturb you."

"It's okay." Zayn was in an unusually good mood.

Shaun had not yet arrived home when he received a call from Callum Wendell. When Shaun saw the caller ID, he was shocked. It was almost 3:00 am, but Callum was still not asleep yet.

After a short moment's hesitation, Callum hung up but quickly called again. He seemed impatient, which was not at all like his usual style.

Shaun picked up the call and slowed down the car.

Before he had a chance to speak, Callum shouted, "Shaun! Did Yvette contact you? Is she at your place now?"

"No, isn't she on the flight now?"

This was something Callum knew better than Shaun, and because of this, he could not accept it.

"You b*stard! The plane Yvette’s on just had an accident!"

His self-blame took over all of his sanity, making his eyes look unprecedentedly dazed. He did not know why he was in such a daze.

After a while, he finally found his strength with great difficulty and started the car once again. The good thing was that even though he crashed onto the guardrail, this car that was worth several million dollars was sturdy and could still be used normally.

"It’ll be fine," Shaun said as he kept calling Yvette's number and flew to the airport.

Atlantic City International Airport was already crowded.

By the time Shaun arrived, most of the passengers' families had already arrived at the airport.

As soon as Shaun stepped in, the surrounding cries engulfed him.

The radio in the airport lobby was broadcasting something like, "We have just temporarily lost contact. We will keep trying."

However, this was no consolation to those who might have lost their loved ones.

Probably because the emotions of the people around him were too contagious, Shaun's heart felt like it was being weighed down by a huge rock, making his breathing a little uncomfortable.

He searched carefully inside the airport and finally saw Callum Wendell in a corner.

Callum hung his head and looked over the airport lobby from time to time. When he withdrew his gaze, he suddenly saw Shaun who was walking towards him.

His eyes were red, but Callum was not bawling like the others.
