Zayn Guggenheim did not say a word and went around the table to Lindsey Juhl. He watched as her gaze turned from panic to fear, as if he could see through her chest to see her restlessly beating heart.
He was strangely in a great mood. His large hand patted her shoulder and his lips parted slightly to say, "Remember what you said."
Zayn then turned around and strode upstairs.
Just like that? Lindsey could not believe it. She thought that he would punish her ruthlessly just like every single time before. What was going on now?
Jenny Lenig already ran far away, but she waited for a long time and did not see Zayn chasing after her. She instantly felt dejected and her hatred for Lindsey deepened. She was about to take out her phone when she heard footsteps approaching from afar.
Her heart was elated. She hurriedly squatted down and squeezed out a few tears from her eyes. The sound of footsteps closed in and stopped in front of her.
However, she waited for a long time until her feet were numb. The "Zayn" in front of her did not even help her up. As the doubts in the heart grew, she looked up and froze when she saw that the one who came was actually Zayn's personal assistant?!
"Ms. Lenig, Mr. Guggenheim was worried about you and asked me to send you home."
The assistant's words were polite and respectful, but his tone was somewhat cold.
Jenny was amused by these words and wanted to laugh a little. If Zayn was really worried, why did he not show up himself?
Was it because of Lindsey Juhl? Who was she to steal him away?!
The malice in Jenny’s eyes grew deeper and deeper. The assistant saw it all but did not point it out.
"Ms. Lenig, let's go."
Jenny forcefully suppressed her emotions, got up, and instantly put on her innocent facade.
Lindsey was a high performer in the company. Not only did she not get fired, but she was also promoted to team leader. She was now heading the entire consulting department alongside Lydia.
Fenly was green with envy. She initially thought she would be able to break Lindsey once and for all and kick her out of the company.
Who knew that Lindsey would even get promoted! Fenly was so angry that she was boiling over.
Fenly muttered bitterly, "Whatever! She must be relying on her connections again. I really don't know what's so great about that!"
After receiving the congratulations from the crowd, Lindsey saw Fenly's sour expression and walked over with her arms crossed at her chest. Lindsey still did not forget the incident with Mr. Lee.
"Tsk tsk...Fenly, are you feeling unwell? You don't look too good."
"Lindsey, don't get all smug on me! It's just a few clients, isn't it? Next time, I’ll surely do better than you."
Fenly was already jealous of Lindsey's good luck and was annoyed at her in every way.
Lindsey hurriedly nodded and ridiculed her.
"I don't know how capable you are in terms of work, but I do know that no one in the whole office can eat a whole lemon better than you can."
"What do you mean?"
"You’re just so sour all the time whether it be talking or doing things. People might think you overdosed on lemons!"
Lindsey had a way of dissing her.
Fenly’s face turned from green to black. She was so angry that she roared, "Lindsey Juhl! You...don’t be a bully!"
"Shush! It's office hours. You’ll disturb others if you’re so loud. I'm sorry you didn’t get to watch me walk out of the office this time. Haha! Keep up the good work, Fen!"
Lindsey followed Lydia's usual way of addressing Fenly and emphasized her nickname, "Fen".
"Hmph!"
Fenly knew that she was now a level below Lindsey at work. Earlier, Lindsey deliberately amplified her voice, so everyone was looking at Fenly with ridicule.
