Lindsey stared at Zayn for being so blunt this early in the morning.
Zayn reached out and massaged Lindsey’s neck with just the right amount of force. Seeing Lindsey staring at him looking irritated, he paused and smiled at her.
It was a very helpless and doting smile.
Lindsey raised her eyebrows and looked at him strangely. “What are you doing?” She did not notice that her lips were curled up into a smile.
Zayn did not speak, but he looked like he was in a good mood.
He reached out and wrapped his arms around Lindsey from behind. One hand was still massaging Lindsey's limbs while he gently placed his other hand on her belly.
Lindsey could feel the man's body heat through her thin pajamas.
She was flustered and looked back at Zayn. The stinging pain in her fingertips spread to her heart.
Perhaps because the atmosphere between the two was too cordial, Lindsey somehow said, "Zayn, are your parents good to you?"
The light in Zayn's eyes flashed. "Why are you suddenly asking this?"
"Nothing." Lindsey shook her head. Only then did she realize what she had asked. "Just curious."
Zayn grunted and did not sound too excited. Lindsey had never heard Zayn mention his parents. Even Grandpa rarely talked about them. Lindsey thought that Zayn would not answer, but after a while, Zayn's deep voice rang in her ears, "I actually don't remember much, but I think they probably treated me really well."
His tone was flat with no signs of nostalgia, but he also did not intend to keep it from her.
The words "really well" were like a needle that pricked Lindsey's heart. She laughed and said, "I guess all parents will love their children very much."
Even she, knowing that she could not keep the child in her womb, still could not help but feel the urge to bring him into this world. She wanted to raise him and kiss his soft little face. She wanted to give him all the love she had.
How could anyone bear to abort their child?
Lindsey was a little lost in thought. As soon as Zayn looked down, he saw her empty eyes and inexplicably felt a pang of sadness. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I was just thinking what kind of people my parents were and why they would abandon me."
She sounded like she did not care, but Zayn clearly saw her eyelashes tremble.
"Don’t think about it." Zayn pulled her into his arms. His tone was gentle, but his face turned cold above her. "You have me."
Lindsey was shaken and her fingers that were on Zayn’s chest trembled a little.
At that moment, Zayn was also shaken.
The two of them had experienced despair and desolation. They were finally warming up to each other.
All of a sudden, Lindsey did not feel like going against Zayn anymore. She thought that distancing herself and rejecting him would make him give up on her, but Zayn was not willing to let her go, so her actions were only hurting them both even more.
Lindsey’s morning sickness was not as severe anymore perhaps due to a good night’s sleep. However, Zayn was still anxious and accompanied her at home all day.
