Yvette Wendell hesitated for a moment and let go of Shaun. She lowered her head like a kid who made a mistake and said, "I'm sorry."
Shaun did not respond to her apology as the inexplicable rage he felt made him lose his senses. In a fit of anger, he pushed the girl standing next to his bed out of the way. "Get out of the way!"
Yvette nearly fell to the ground. She steadied herself and tears welled up in her eyes. "Shaun..."
Shaun was also stunned by his actions.
Yvette clenched the hem of her dress with both hands and said, "Sorry, it should be Mr. Juhl. I'm sorry...I lied to the man who took Lindsey away. I shouldn't have lied and I shouldn't have said that to you."
As she said this, she could not hold in her tears and started to cry until she was breathless, looking very aggrieved. Shaun froze in place and stared at his own hands dumbfounded. He was at a loss.
Yvette covered her eyes with both hands to prevent the man in front of her from seeing her tears, but she could not control her sobs.
Not only did she have a babyface, she even cried like a child and did not have the slightest bit of maturity a grown woman should have.
"I'm sorry." Yvette finally turned away, probably because she felt ashamed. "I really didn't mean to, but don't forgive me."
After saying such strange words, she suddenly pushed the door open and ran out.
Yvette’s tears lessened Shaun's eagerness to look for Lindsey. His heart was still a bit empty, and the words "Lindsey doesn't even like you" came to his mind.
Shaun laughed at himself. Yvette was actually very smart. Although Shaun did not know how she could tell, she seemed to find out about his feelings for Lindsey. She never pestered him again since then.
This was clearly what he wanted because Shaun always thought that Yvette was too loud, but somehow, he felt a little lost.
After some thought, Shaun still felt very uneasy and finally gave Callum Wendell a call.
Shaun closed his eyes and leaned against the bed after the call. His heart was in turmoil.
The sound of light footsteps in the room made Shaun open his eyes abruptly. That was when he saw Quentin standing not too far from the hospital bed with a smile on his face.
"Like owner, like dog..." Shaun looked askance at Quentin and his words were not polite.
Quentin was not angered by it. He seemed not to ever have an angry bone in him. No matter what others said to him, he would always have a polite smile plastered on his face. “Mr. Juhl, please don’t get mad just yet. I’m here to ask you a few questions and will leave right after."
He smiled as he approached Shaun. The vibes he emitted were similar to Zayn after working for him for so long. "Mr. Juhl, where and how did you find the Young Madam in the first place?"
Quentin asked politely, but he was silently pressuring Shaun.
......
Lindsey slept until the afternoon. She was feeling so comfortable and did a big stretch before she gradually opened her eyes.
