Yvette Wendell carried vigorous energy that Lindsey did not have. The next day, Lindsey woke up later than Yvette.
Since they slept late, it was already noon by the time the two of them got up.
Yvette stretched and said, "Lindsey, what are we going to eat later? I heard that Broad Street Market is pretty famous in Harrisburg. Why don’t we go take a look?"
Lindsey was still in a daze and nodded. "Sure." She did not have anything to do anyway.
When Lindsey finished washing up, she suddenly realized that Yvette said she would leave today.
"Aren't you going to your relatives' house?" Lindsey looked at Yvette's back. This girl was really a child at heart. It only took one night for her to forget about the trauma last night.
Yvette’s back stiffened. After a long time, she turned to look at Lindsey with puppy dog eyes. "I actually ran away from home."
"Ran away from home? How old are you that you’re still doing something so childish?!" Lindsey was a little shocked.
Yvette did not answer her question and was probably ashamed. After a while, she muttered, "It's all Shaun's fault."
Lindsey knew that Yvette liked Shaun, so she went over to the desk where her phone was placed and picked it up. Her phone was running low on battery and she did not charge it. There were a lot of missed calls from Allie and Liam, which was weird.
These days, Allie called her frequently, but Lindsey barely answered because the content of the calls was invariably to tell her not to keep the child.
Lindsey glanced at the missed calls and ignored them. She then found Shaun's number and called him.
"Don't tell my brother about me," Lindsey whispered another admonition to Yvette.
The call was answered right after she said that.
Shaun sounded very tired. He was a little surprised to receive Lindsey's call, but said, "Linds, U have something going on, so I'll call you back later."
He had searched all night, but he could not find Yvette anywhere.
"Brother, don’t hang up just yet," Lindsey said quickly so that he would not hang up and handed her phone to Yvette.
"You talk to him."
Yvette took the phone and reluctantly called out, "Shaun..."
Shaun froze when he heard this slightly stiff and cold voice because Yvette’s voice was usually very cheery.
After he came back to his senses, Shaun's voice was so cold that it could freeze the room. "Yvette Wendell! Are you still a kid? You’re so old yet you still run away from home? I’d really like to pry your head open to see if there’s a brain inside. How could you do things without thinking through it? Do you know how many people came out to look for you last night?"
Shaun roared to vent out all the frustrations he felt in his heart.
However, the girl's voice suddenly sounded over the phone, "Why are you so fierce?"
Yvette was always like this. Every time Shaun became impatient, she would just blink her teary eyes and said this with an aggrieved tone.
However, most of the time, Yvette would only fake cry. She was never like this. Her voice seemed to contain a million grievances. She was just petulant.
In an instant, Shaun could no longer show his temper.
Lindsey was a little dumbfounded by this. A second ago, Yvette was like a prancy little wildcat, but she now had her head buried in arms, looking quite pitiful.
She had also heard Shaun's words. Even the usually composed Shaun exploded like this, which meant that he was really anxious this time.
The girl was still sobbing, so Lindsey took over the phone and reprimanded Shaun. "Brother, she was robbed last night and was nearly hurt. She’s just a young girl all alone in Harrisburg, so don't be so harsh on her."
Lindsey made Shaun completely speechless with this. He could only retort, "Who asked her to run away?"
