"Zayn, Grandpa has always been proud of you. When it comes to business, I believe that you can do well and perhaps even do better than anyone else. But you’re not as emotionally intelligent as I’d wish for you to be. True love isn’t something you can force onto others just because you feel like it. You must first consider if they are willing to accept you."
Grandpa Guggenheim had taught Zayn to become a successful businessman, but he forgot to teach him how to properly love someone.
To Zayn, love was a luxury that could not be bought with money.
The old man looked at Zayn, who was standing in front of him, and saw the little boy who once looked up to him and called him Gramps. The old man suddenly felt heartbroken and was not ready to leave this boy all alone in this world.
"Zayn, Grandpa doesn't have much time left." The old man had also said this to Lindsey, but at this moment, his heart became heavier.
Zayn suddenly raised his head. His eyes became red for a moment because of these words and the bottom of his eyes was filled with unspeakable pain. "Grandpa!"
The old man, however, waved his hand and suppressed the emotions welling up in his eyes. He turned to look at the tombstone and said, "That’s why Grandpa wants to see you living happily before I go. Lindsey is a great lady, so don’t you fail her."
‘Don’t wait until you lose her to feel regretful. Don’t wait until she’s gone to feel sad.’
As he said this, the old man raised his hand to caress the photo on the tombstone. He could not remember how many years ago this photo was taken. Back when Grandma Guggenheim married him, she seemed to be this young and beautiful. In the blink of an eye, she had already been gone for so many years.
"After seeing Zayn live a happy life, I'll come to keep you company. I know you've been alone down there for so many years and must be blaming me. In our next life, I still wish to marry you, darling." The old man said this in his heart to the person on the tombstone.
He did not look at Zayn again but gently leaned his head against the tombstone. "You can go now. I'll stay here with Grandma."
It was already afternoon. The old man’s shadow leaning against the tombstone was elongated by the setting sun and Zayn suddenly realized that the old man had indeed aged drastically.
Zayn bent his tall body respectfully. He could no longer look up to the old man like when he was young.
On the way back to Opal Suites.
Although Soren and Quentin were both Zayn's right-hand men, their personalities were completely different. Quentin was a very resourceful and slick man who could thrive in any social situation, but Soren was taciturn and the overall vibe others got from him was that he was a quiet yet ruthless man.
Lindsey still remembered the fierce look on Soren's face when he threatened Jenny Lenig.
However, what was unexpected about Soren was that his driving was very stable. No wonder Zayn always liked to let him drive.
The car was silent when Lindsey suddenly asked, "What will happen to Jenny Lenig in the future?"
Soren gently turned the steering wheel beneath his hand and said, "It depends what you want to do to her, Young Madam. If you want to have a say in it or make her suffer some more, we’re at your service. If you don't want to care about her, then she’ll probably spend the rest of her life in there."
"There" referred to the psychiatric hospital.
Lindsey nodded and did not say anything. It seemed like she was not bothered.
The fighting agility Lindsey showed today surprised Soren and his impression of her changed greatly.
"How long have you guys been working for Zayn?" Lindsey asked again.
Soren knew that "you guys" referred to him and Quentin. He revealed a shy smile and said, "Quentin and I are orphans that were fostered by the old man. We studied business management in university to support the President and officially joined the company around seven or eight years ago."
However, both he and Quentin walked entirely separate paths.
