Lindsey choked out these words. She slid down against the corner of the wall as if all her strength had been drained.
Her eyes were closed and the suppressed agony seemed to sweep through her body in an instant.
Her voice suddenly became soft and feeble. "Why do you have to humiliate me like this over and over again? Is it that fun?"
Lindsey suddenly thought, ‘I shouldn’t have come back...I shouldn’t even struggle to survive.’
That was because no matter how hard she tried, the man in front of her was like a mountain that she could never overcome. Her strength was simply worthless in front of him. Even her plans had to be implemented little by little, and that would only rattle him a little.
"You know what, Zayn Guggenheim? Your kiss..." She poked her chest and had a brutal coldness on her face as she continued, "Makes me feel nothing but disgust."
Zayn's body swayed and the wound on his heart hurt like hell. His body felt numb, but he still pulled the woman in front of him into his arms and tightly encircled her.
They were both warm-blooded people, but they did not feel any warmth from each other when they embraced.
Even so, Zayn was not willing to give up.
His lips were pressed against her cheek and it took almost all his strength for him to declare his carefully cherished feelings in his heart.
"Lindsey, I love you."
Lindsey froze for a moment, then suddenly burst out laughing. She had tears in her eyes and pushed Zayn away with ease. "But I don't love you anymore."
It was “I don't love you anymore”, not “I don't love you”.
As soon as she said this, the tears in her eyes seeped out again through the corners of her eyes, blurring her vision.
Lindsey did not believe a word Zayn said.
She only thought that this was Zayn's way of humiliating her yet again.
Nonetheless, she still saw the deep sorrow on the man's face.
Allie Wilford, who was hiding in the stairwell, felt an inexplicable sadness in her heart when she saw the handprint and the look on Zayn's face.
She heard Zayn's confession and pitied him for his devotion towards Lindsey. The sarcastic smile on Lindsey's face at this time undoubtedly provoked Allie.
In an instant, the half a year she spent with Lindsey could not offset the heartache that she felt for the man in front of her.
Lindsey was the one who was at fault first, so why did she want to torture Zayn like this?
If she did not love him anymore, why did she not get a divorce?
What was the purpose of dragging him on like this?
How could someone like Lindsey deserve Zayn's love?
On the other side, neither of the two people noticed Allie's presence. The air between them was stagnant for a moment.
Lindsey had completely calmed down, but her face was still vaguely tear-stained.
Just as she was about to leave the elevator lobby, the man behind her suddenly said, "Do you want to see Jenny Lenig?"
Lindsey stopped in her tracks and asked, "Mr. Guggenheim, are you willing to let me take revenge?"
"I’ll get Quentin to make arrangements," Zayn said calmly as if he did not hear the sarcasm in her voice.
Lindsey did not reply and just left.
