Allie Wilford firmly believed that Lindsey cheated on Zayn first, but she did not understand why Zayn was still so attached to Lindsey that he even followed her back home.
The driver started to drive away and Allie watched the man's figure slowly disappear at Lindsey's apartment building. Her hand clenched into a fist.
Zayn had just walked to the elevator lobby when he saw the woman leaning against the wall. Her eyes were emotionless and she looked at him as if he was a stranger.
"Zayn Guggenheim, why are you following me?"
Lindsey chose Opal Suites because the size of the apartment was not too big. More importantly, it had excellent security and non-residents could not even enter the community gate, but Zayn was standing right in front of her at the moment.
Nonetheless, she was not too surprised that Zayn managed to enter.
The man swept her a glance. His eyes no longer had the intractability or anguish that they had previously. "Ms. Juhl, what are you talking about? I live here."
"What did you say?" The calmness on Lindsey's face finally cracked and her eyebrows knitted as she looked at him in disbelief.
Zayn finally saw other emotions surface in her eyes. She no longer had the indifference and detachment that had been present whenever they met from the time she returned, so his mood suddenly improved.
"Do I need to repeat myself?" Zayn said while he pressed the elevator button, "I live here."
There was even a hint of a gloating smile on his face when he saw Lindsey’s disbelief. “Ms. Juhl, the elevator’s here. Are you going up as well?”
Lindsey did not want to be in the same space as him, but Zayn’s smug face looked certain that she would not go in with him, so she suddenly felt a surge of rage and did otherwise.
Why should Zayn Guggenheim always get the last laugh?
"Yes, Mr. Guggenheim." Lindsey's lips curled up into a fake smile.
Zayn saw how alert she was a second ago, yet she was still smiling so brightly at him. He almost could not suppress his urge to tie her up and bring her home. He felt like ripping that fake smile off her face. He really wanted to make her beg for mercy. He wanted her to cry or laugh in front of him. Anything would do, as long as she did not look at him with such a fake and cold face.
In the end, Zayn just stretched out his hand and signaled like a gentleman for Lindsey to go in first.
In the enclosed space, Lindsey pressed the button to her floor, but Zayn did not move, so she thought that perhaps he was just lying to her about living here.
The two of them remained silent.
A few moments later, Lindsey watched as the man walked out of the elevator on her floor. She stopped walking and stared at Zayn in amazement.
At the same time, when the Wilford car was about to drive away, Allie suddenly shouted, "Stop!"
The driver was startled and thought something had happened, so he hastily stepped on the emergency brake. The car drifted forward several meters before stopping due to the inertia.
"Is there something wrong?" The driver asked nervously.
Allie said in an anxious voice, "Lindsey left something very important with me, so I have to give it back to her. Send me back."
......
Outside the elevator, Lindsey halted her footsteps. She looked at the man who was half a meter away from her and unconsciously took a step back. "Zayn Guggenheim, if you continue to follow me, I'm not sure what I’ll do to you."
"Ms. Juhl, how many times do I have to repeat myself? I live here." Zayn was not at all affected by her anger and looked at her frankly.
Lindsey sneered. Her tone was full of disdain as she said, "When did the billionaire President Guggenheim start living in such a commoner’s apartment? If anyone finds out, they might even think you’re going bankrupt."
"That’s my business, so you don’t have to worry about it, Ms. Juhl."
