Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1837

The lobby's air conditioning was just right, a welcome relief from the scorching heat outside. As Fiona and her friends stepped in, they could feel the oppressive warmth melting away, their bodies settling back to a comfortable temperature.

Jackson gently dabbed the sweat from Fiona's forehead with a handkerchief, but her cheeks stayed rosy, like a tempting apple. "Feeling better now?" he asked softly, his voice laced with care.

His world revolved around Fiona, and it was only when she gave him a reassuring smile and said she was okay that he finally let out a breath of relief. It was time to tackle the issue at hand.

Jackson was usually the quiet type, not one to raise his voice. But leaving Fiona to bake under the hot sun? Unforgivable. The board members who rushed over had no clue that Fiona owned International Glam. Of course, they knew who she was—keeping tabs on financial news was part of their job.

Fiona was a member of the Stonnell family, and above all, she was Jackson's woman. These crafty veterans weren't oblivious to that. So, as Jackson fussed over Fiona, they sheepishly looked away. Some even lingered by the lobby doors, anxiously searching for the representative from International Glam.

"Wasn't someone from International Glam supposed to come? Where are they?" one of them grumbled.

"Probably left! I mean, it's sweltering today, and Wyatt's clueless daughter had the nerve to boot them out," another chimed in.

A few of the board members were fuming, ready to march back and demand an explanation from Wyatt. But then, the Woods family trio, who had previously inked a deal with Fiona, stepped off the elevator. The moment they saw Fiona, they knew they could smooth over the situation.

"Watch your mouth!"

Then, she turned back to Fiona, her cheerful demeanor restored. The other two Woods family members, who had signed the deal with Fiona, felt compelled to spill the beans about her identity to avoid further chaos.

Once the board members realized Fiona was the brains behind International Glam, their faces went pale. They'd been way too dismissive earlier. No wonder Jackson was so attentive. They flocked around Fiona, tripping over themselves to apologize and express concern, crowding her like a swarm.

Eventually, Jackson's stern gaze sent them scattering. He led Fiona to the company, and just as the elevator doors closed, Wyatt burst in, flustered and out of breath, finding the lobby deserted. After hearing from security that everyone had gone upstairs, his energy deflated. He'd worked hard to get his daughter in, hoping she might catch Jackson's eye and nudge the Wyatt family into the elite circles of the States. Who knew it would turn into such a fiasco?
