"Jackson mentioned he was heading overseas for a business negotiation, but then he got surrounded. The last message he sent my mom was yesterday, and she's been worried sick. She caught the first flight out early this morning, but now we haven’t heard a peep from her either. Fiona, I'm at my wit's end here."
Fiona's eyes narrowed as she grabbed Nash by the collar, demanding, "Why are you just telling me this now?"
Fiona was on the brink of losing it. They’d already missed the crucial 24-hour window to rescue Jackson. She felt an intense urge to knock some sense into Nash; how could he wait until things were this dire to spill the beans?
"Where’s my brother gone?" Fiona asked, her fingers flying over her phone as she fired off messages.
"Southeast Asia."
Fiona froze, her whole body going rigid. She asked again, refusing to believe it, "Where?"
The answer was unchanged. Now it was Fiona’s turn to panic. Of all times, Jackson had headed to Southeast Asia.
"What kind of business is worth discussing in that godforsaken place?" Fiona muttered to herself.
The next moment, Nash gave her a suspicious look and asked, "Business deal? Jackson got a tip that Grandpa and Grandma might be there."
What?
It finally clicked for Fiona. She now understood why Jackson had been so desperate to go abroad. That night, he’d insisted on personally taking her back to her dorm; he must have been worried for her safety because of this.
Taking a deep breath, Fiona stared at her contact list, hesitated for ages, then finally pressed the call button.
