Fiona's words hit everyone like a bolt from the blue, leaving them stunned. Even the dean had to reassess his opinion of her. Beyond her incredible medical skills, Fiona's knack for reading and influencing people was nothing short of remarkable. It took him a moment to even begin to understand her strategy.
"Rest easy, until we have a firm answer, there's no way you can harm the child in Erica's womb," Fiona assured, feeling she'd said her piece. She glanced at the dean. "I've got a class to catch. I'll leave this matter in your capable hands."
"Take care, Ms. Fiona," the dean acknowledged with a respectful nod.
Once Fiona and her friends left, the dean quickly arranged for Erica's family to be kept under watch. As they walked out of the office, Tyler seemed a bit confused and asked, "Why not just expose them? Wouldn't that put everyone on high alert?"
"Fishing takes patience and steps," was the reply.
When they got outside, Jackson's car was waiting, and the trio headed to a nearby restaurant for lunch. While they were eating, they noticed some strangers murmuring about them, and it was clear the talk was about Allen.
Fiona knew Jackson's abilities better than anyone, but the leak of Allen's issue made it obvious that the Larkin family from Maple Grove was behind it.
"Do you think the Larkin family has something to gain from this, bro?" Fiona asked, sipping her milkshake, her head slightly tilted as she looked at Jackson. "Zoe's mess is her own doing, and the Larkin family should've stayed tangled up in the drama of Maple Grove. Instead, they're acting like someone's shield."
Jackson stayed quiet, his well-defined hand gripping a clear glass, a trace of anger crossing his face. He was keeping a lid on his simmering anger, which was close to boiling over.
"Could they have been mixed up in what happened back then?" Fiona pressed.
