"That's my boy," Nash's mom said with a proud smile, giving him a thumbs-up. "Young Nash is spot on. This little bit of cash is nothing to the Woods family, especially compared to those always trying to get money out of us."
As she spoke, Nash's mom waved Fiona over with a warm smile. "Fiona, come here."
Fiona approached with a sense of obedience. Honestly, she hadn't expected Nash's mom to be so supportive of her, and it filled her heart with warmth.
"Fiona, you look stunning," she said, glancing at Jackson with a teasing grin. "Jackson, you better get a move on. I'm waiting for you two to tie the knot!"
Fiona was taken aback for a moment but quickly caught on, lowering her eyes as she naturally linked arms with Nash's mom. "Ms. Ashley, you're just teasing. Jackson and I aren't what you think, I just..."
The words got stuck in her throat, and after a long pause, she couldn’t think of a good excuse.
"Just what, Fiona?" Nash's mom's smile grew wider, as if she could see through the unspoken feelings between them, even if Fiona was still unsure.
But it was all good, keeping anyone else from making a move on Fiona.
She looked at her son and sighed inwardly, shaking her head. This kid was always so laid-back.
"Fiona, I get what you're thinking, but as your aunt, I still believe you and Jackson are a perfect match. To me, you're a match made in heaven!"
Cough, cough.
"I'm laying it out now: if you try to ruin this, you'll be out of the Woods family. Just try me!"
She held Fiona's hand firmly. She'd watched this girl grow up and was very fond of her; no way would she let anyone hurt her.
Besides, Jackson was the real heir to the Woods family. One day, everything would be his. Marrying early wasn't a bad thing, and with their looks, their kids would be gorgeous.
As for her own son, let him be carefree; the Woods family could handle it.
With Nash's mom’s assertive stand, none of the uncles dared to speak up. Nobody wanted to take her on. They knew she had her reasons and the power to back them up, so they quietly backed off.
