As Janet jogged past, a guy gave her a mocking glance.
"Flora's amazing! She keeps up with the guys like it's nothing."
"Wow! Flora's on her third lap, right? I've just barely started my second."
"Flora is literally my idol!"
After wrapping up her third lap, Fiona headed to the sidelines to find a spot to catch her breath. The gym teacher came over and advised, "Don't chug water right after running. Give yourself a moment to cool down first."
Fiona gave a quick nod in agreement and, once the teacher turned away, took a sneaky sip of water.
It wasn’t that far—was it really that tiring?
She only had a few beads of sweat on her forehead.
Janet seized the moment to walk over, soon flanked by a bunch of girls.
"What's the deal?" Fiona frowned, spotting Patricia among them, instantly sensing trouble. "If you're here to fight her battles and play hero, save it. Otherwise, you'll be the next one visiting the nurse's office!"
"Who do you think you are, Fiona?" Janet huffed, glaring with fury, her face a ghostly white with anger. She pointed at Fiona, sneering, "Think you're all that, Fiona? How about meeting me after school in the alley?"
"Grow up."
Fiona couldn't care less, let out a slight scoff, and pushed her way through the crowd to leave.
"You..."
Janet was left fuming, feeling like she'd hit a wall with nowhere to vent her anger.
"Boss, this one's a rare catch!" one of his sidekicks chimed in. "She’s gotta be a real innocent type."
The leader's eyes lit up with interest.
"Come along, sweetheart, and I promise you'll have a blast."
"Back off!" Fiona shot him a cold glare and tried to walk away, but her path was blocked.
The leader’s face hardened, and even Janet, watching from behind, looked displeased. What was wrong with Fiona?
"You ungrateful brat! My boss is doing you a favor by noticing you!"
"Why don't you take that favor for yourself?" Fiona shot back, leaving them momentarily speechless.
